Boxed pressed Edmundo Dantes

Friend of mine passed though Mexico City last months, naturally I asked him to grab me a few boxes of the Mexican Regionals.  He did, and had them vacuumed sealed.  They've been sealed, w a boveda, for 3+weeks  

I just opened the boxes. I'm sure they'll smoke just fine when their time comes

That's an awfully heavy box press, especially for a SBN box which typically is resistant to box press. Makes me think something very heavy was on top of these...

They should be fine nonetheless, unless there's some damage. As someone that prefers no box press, I'd be a bit miffed though.

They look wonderful! Once lit, they will become round again. No harm no foul. I'm hoping that you bought them at an authorized LCDH.

For the reading comprehension challenged, he stated the box was vacuum sealed.  This is what results when you let the machine over-vacuum before sealing.

Did this to the very first box I ever vacuum sealed (2002 RASS).  They looked ridiculous, but smoked and drew fine.

Lesson for folks doing the vacuum seal thing: hit the seal button long before you see the lid buckle in.  Your little vacuum seal machine will easily crush even a sbn/bn style wood box.  Do no let the machine auto seal.  Use the manual seal button (early).

The benefit in vacuum sealing is in the seal, not the vacuum!

They will puff back to normal round shape over time in my experience with similar situations

I used to vacuum seal my boxes. I once vacuum sealed a box of Dip 2's - a very thorough and tight vacuum seal and this was the result ? 

That said, IMO it had no affect on the flavour.

That makes a Dip 2 look like an old paper sack!
