TomF Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 I lost a dear friend today. He gave me my first break in 1979 and we went on to work on 11 of his films together. He was a great director, a dear friend and an inspiration to me. I don't think I'll ever get over this loss. Rest In Peace JayDee. http://variety.com/2017/film/news/jonathan-demme-dead-silence-of-the-lambs-1202399122/ 4

PatrickEwing Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 If the range of films is any indication, he seemed like a very interesting guy. Sorry for the loss.
Webbo Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 Sorry to hear this. He also made, in my opinion, the finest music film documentary ever - Stop Making Sense. RIP 1

cigcars Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 OMG What a shock! I LOVE Jonathan Demme for all his exemplary work and finesse in filmmaking...thoroughly, thoughtfully and carefully directed in rare talent and being able to both satisfy and warm the heart of the viewer. You know how it is when you have talent of this mammoth level - you just expect them to live forever. Thank you, TomF, although we share your heartache at this loss, but for still notifying us of this. Again, truly, truly a shock. RIP, Jonathan

MIKA27 Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 May he rest in peace. The world is fortunate and richer from his works, I for one love a great many of his films, Manchurian Candidate and Silence of the lambs, classics!
n0s4atu Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 Sorry for your loss. Everyone loved Silence of the Lambs, which of course was awesome, but I always thought it was cool how he seemed to just picked projects he enjoyed regardless of whether it was going to have mass appeal or not.
