Popular Post canadianbeaver Posted April 25, 2017 Popular Post Posted April 25, 2017 Last year it was Ireland and we met up with moderator @Ryan for dinner and cigar excellence! This year the corporate trip with mrbeaver's North American co is to Hawaii. Never been there. I am one of the 4 CEO wives. The trip is the reward for top sales people. Some love cigars so I bring a selection to form a herf every night. I will add some photos here like I did last year. Once I know where I am, if appropriate and an FOH member is around, maybe we can say hello. Cheers! CB 13

Danimalia Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Have a nice trip! Hawaii is really wonderful. I have some very fond memories of swimming (OK, mostly floating) in the water off Waikiki late in the evening, with the hotels all lit up along the beach. I'm sure the Americans will be stoked to have a selection of Cuban cigars to smoke.

I'll be on the big island (Kona side) this weekend -- also as an award trip, courtesy of my company, with Mrs. Planetary as well. I've packed my Xikar travel humi with about a dozen cigars. Finding places to smoke can be hard if you are not renting private property -- but definitely worth it. 2
luv2fly Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Have a fantastic trip!! Wish I was there now. Post some pics.
lafabrica Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 agree on the advice to bring your own CC. however, purchasing a few NC cigars while there won't break the bank, but they do have the 50% tax rate. still less than canada the weather is nice this time of year. you are definitely staying in honolulu. so, the closest lounge is tobaccos of hawaii. they don't stay open too late, but have a fair selection. the lounge is on the right. christopher (owner) knows his arturo fuentes. most hotels have an outdoor area to have a smoke, and if you have a balcony... enjoy the coffee & have a great time.
canadianbeaver Posted April 25, 2017 Author Posted April 25, 2017 I always bring my own stash of CC's. If I did not, and they know what kind of collector I am, they would put me out to sea. We will be at the Four Seasons. Planetary, what are the chances you and I are on the same trip? Now that would be awesome! Pharma biz by chance? 1

I've spent a decent amount of time in Kauai and have plenty of suggestions for off the grid good times.

Hawaii is very non-cigar-friendly, unfortunately (it's one of my favorite places anywhere). Beaches are all verboten for smoking. I assume you're going to Oahu/Waikiki -- if so, maybe there's a shop or two around if you run low, but probably no CCs. Anywhere else is going to be really HTF sticks. Maui, for example, is nearly bereft of shops. God this is far too accurate. Hawaii really seems to hate cigars. 1
canadianbeaver Posted April 25, 2017 Author Posted April 25, 2017 So I figured out where I am going LOL: Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina Kapolei, Hawaii
lafabrica Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 ahh, the old jw marriott. actually, no great public spots to enjoy a cigar at that hotel, but the balconies work well.
Benzopyrene Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 Have fun. The four seasons there is next to the Disney Aulani resort if I remember correctly. Ko Olina has a nice golf course if you play golf that you can smoke on. The Disney property is smoke free (not sure about the four seasons), but I still smoked from my balcony at night......they can try to prove it. All in all not a super cigar friendly place, but plenty of other stuff to do! Have fun. Ill be there on May 6th with my family. 2
Islandboy Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 9 hours ago, canadianbeaver said: So I figured out where I am going LOL: Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina Kapolei, Hawaii A resort area about 30 minutes outside of the downtown Honolulu/Waikiki area. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, good for relaxing. Hit the beach/pool right away....hope I’m wrong but a bit of weather is forecast to move through the islands this weekend. Either way, Have fun! 1
canadianbeaver Posted April 26, 2017 Author Posted April 26, 2017 We return home on May 6 @Benzopyrene , wow what are the chances we could have met. Another time brother! CB 1
Corylax18 Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 Smoking on your balcony is an option, but all it takes is one grump and you get popped with the cleaning fee (which I would imagine is no less than $350 at a resort like that). I have done it before in an end room at the Hilton Waikiki, but its always a risk. Tobaccos of Hawaii has a decent selection of NC's along with some way overpriced, but surprisingly smooth and tasty Hawaiian Cigars. "Kuai Cigar Company" rolls 6 lines, I have enjoyed the Makaleha (similar to Macanudo) and the Grand Alii which I found to be much more flavorfull. Its about 30 minutes from where you are staying, on the other side of Waikiki. On a none Cigar related note. If you get a chance, go check out the north shore. Far less developed, less touristy and a lot more "Hawaiian" beautiful beaches, plenty off cool stuff to check out, and you will experience about 1/4 of the tourists you will in the Honolulu area. Enjoy your trip!! 3

If you do decide to make it to the North Shore on a Sunday, the Hawaii Polo Club is usually pretty good about setting out a smoking area if you want to smoke cigars while watching horses run around. 3

I staid in Haleiwa last December, and I didn't see anything about this. That sounds like a great time, definitely on my list for next time! 1
Notsocleaver Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 They generally don't play over the winter, so the season is just starting up. The whole smoking thing isn't advertised, but when you get there you will generally see guys with cigars at tables with ashtrays, so you know... The only kicker is that it can sometimes get so windy there that cigar smoking is no fun. 3 hours ago, Corylax18 said: I staid in Haleiwa last December, and I didn't see anything about this. westg Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 Have been twice ...heaven on earth....sure you will get to smoke a cigar or two ..if not it wont matter to much ...such a beautiful place ...all the 7 11 ABC type shops sell local cigars ..like these Hula Girls sticks .....always a bit of fun picking up a few and trying them ....Have fun 1
Frozen North Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 We are owners with The Westin. At Maui last month, I wanted to fire up a cigar I brought from home. Smoking on the balcony was cause for immediate eviction, no matter if you're an owner there or not. They recommended the parking lot to smoke. 1
