Popular Post Ken Gargett Posted October 20, 2016 Popular Post Posted October 20, 2016 a dream few days. best run of cigars i can ever recall. had a week at fraser island recently, the annual fishing holidays, and got through a good number of cigars. a bit mixed, some good and some less so. but nothing like this week. i don't think i am someone who goes overboard with scores but these were three extraordinary smokes. and deserving of maximum scores. doubt i'll ever have a run like this again and not game to light one this evening as surely, it has to be a left-down. rob came over for a vid on monday (no spoilers) and then i have had a couple in the last couple of nights. i have written one up for rob's series on matching cigars and drinks, so again no spoilers (but my giddy aunt, it was beyond stellar and if anyone thinks some of those early Limited Edicions are not still smoking gloriously and going from strength to strength, i assure you that you could not be more wrong). that said, i've given a fair bit away. be interesting to see if anyone could guess it. not that many options. the third was last night and it was one of the 'monsdales' i picked up in cuba a while back. kicked off with notes of spices, leather and old footballs, dark fruits and earthy notes and a dry caramel character. powerful smoke. evolved into a much sweeter caramel. absolutely a joy all through. no hint of re-lighting. construction was immaculate. a wonderfully complex smoke, that, even though a small-ish size, took over two hours. just heaven. 100 points all the way. i will go further with the other two when i can. 6
westg Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Great Ken... I thought some batsmen had run a muck ..looking forward to the others 1
JohnS Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Ha...I thought you were talking about cricket too, Ken! (Judging by the title of the thread)

Fugu Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 For me, there is two clear candidates there with 100-potential. Will be years 2003/04. But no spoilers....haha.

Only two singles left of the one (simply bought too few due to wrong initial assessment), but recently stocked up with a box of the other one at a ~fair price... if it's the ones we are talking about - Looking forward to your reports!
oliverdst Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 I hope they are reachble cigars (not GR, Paraísos, Bushidos, jars...) Well, I think I am being naif.
LandCruiser Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Have you guys ever done a video where a cigar was scored in the 100 range? I think I can remember a 98 or so...

kuma Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Mates I have found in all my years of smoking stoogies (CC's) the best drink with cigars seems to be either a dbl shot of espresso with a little crema / froth on top (then you know the person making the espresso knows what the hell they are doing) or just plain old table water! 1
Bill Hayes Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 At the time of its launch the Party D1 flew a bit under the radar. But I remember liking it a lot and would be interested to see how they stack up now. I think they were mentioned and tried by someone on the forum a while back with glowing praise.
miurajus Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Congrats on the fantastic fortune, Ken. I hope the run continues!

Ken Gargett Posted October 21, 2016 Author Posted October 21, 2016 perhaps it is time to give up. this is a touch embarrassing. i am just about to fire up the 4th smoke, fingers crossed, and did the maths (yes, it does have an 's'). apparently i can't even count to four. it was three in three days. i could have sworn there was an extra day in there somewhere but it seems not. i feel a smidge silly. 1

RijkdeGooier Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Been hitting that bottle hard have you Ken? 2003 EL that is a 100 points in my book would be the Hoyo Piramide which was an epic smoke last summer.
