mcease022 Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 I have a box of Genios that have been fairly uneventful so far. They have roughly 2 years on them. Will rest/age improve them or is this all I am going to get out of them? Anybody had any cigars that went from bland to full flavour with rest?

Mattb82 Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 I had a genios yesterday from our host that was a PSP and was amazing. pure sweet expresso. Box date was April 16 I think
stogieluver Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Another 3-4 years should improve them considerably. 1
PigFish Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Each cigar is an individual. Smoke them with an open mind. Dud boxes happen, and you may have one. Welcome to Cuban cigars!!! -the Pig 3
canadianbeaver Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Some take much longer maybe? Some take leaving in a dry box first? Lots of options. I find these black box Cohibas take forever. My favorites are 2007! Kind of unfortunate when they cost more and look so good lol.

The cold draw was nice, but there wasn't a whole lot going on otherwise. I had a magicos the night before and it blew my socks off it was so good. I don't mind waiting. I just hope they get there. 1

The Cohiba Maduro 5 line can take a long time to 'peak'. I have been fortunate to sample some aged Genios, Magicos and Secretos (thanks to Trevor, the founder of Cuban Cigar Website, and a dear friend) and they are a very pleasant change-of-pace, as mentioned, sweet cocoa/chocolate and coffee. 1
Ethernut Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 @mcease022 I completely agree with @PigFish. Welcome to Cuban Cigars. More detail on age here (in the aging section): The Noob Thread I Never Read... Buying Cuban Cigars If you aren't seeing some light in the tunnel with them, its doubtful they'll become magic at some point. 2

I had an '07 Magicos the other night and it was beautiful. 2

I had the exact same thing happen with a box of big-ass Partagas Series E No.2, and Upmann PC's. Lovely aroma, but duds at first try. Put them away and ignored them until stumbling across them again a year or two later and diving in for another try. Quite the divine difference the second time around! Of the E2's I'd initially tried 3, and was unimpressed, so I doubt it was a dud single. Of the PC's I'd just tried 1, so that could have been a random event perhaps.
dowjr1 Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 More time can turn a cigar around. But you know more time won't make them worse so there is that. I've had a few smokes I just did not care for only Tomhave a friend smoke one and love them. He bought the box from me. Regardless of more time down or swap/sale, you have some choices.

Because I was very unimpressed with the ones I've had, and I'm actually a Trini fan.
subport Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 My '07 Genios is smoking very well. Probably better than ever. There were a few ups and downs in their lives.
