ThePolskiOgorki
Hope you are sitting down for this one. A friend brought this to my attention the other week. I was a little drunk so I forgot about it until now. I thought he was full of it at the time but this is real. When I was a kid I read these books all the time. Some of you may remember reading them or reading them to your little ones. There are an incredible number of people who believe and remember the name is spelled BerenstEin with an "E" instead of an "A" myself included. Somehow this gained traction and has created a lot of discussion and theories on the internet (must be true) of some kind of parallel universe shift . So in simple terms we are all now living in the BerenstAin world and our counterpart universe is living in the BerenstEin world and talking about how they all remember it being spelled with an "A". Crazy or stupid? Most likely this is a situation where a large number of people just incorrectly remember something to be true, which is the first thing I thought. Apparently from looking into this "E" and "A" shift I discovered there is a name for something like this called the "Mandela Effect" something an individual coined from a similar situation where a large number of people believed/remembered Nelson Mandela died in prison in the "80s" when he actually died only recently. Which makes you wonder if that was part of this shift or some other shift that may of happened previously. What do you think? And in the words of Ogre from Revenge of the Nerds "What if C-A-T really spelled dog?"
Puros Y Vino
I know what you're talking about. the "Mandela effect" is based on the "fact" that half the world believes Mandela was free, became president and recently died and the other half believes he died in prison during the 1990's. So, two halves of the world have two sets of reality. I think this is just down to people's memories fading over time. AFIAC, I recall Berenstein. Some believe the Hadrion collider is tearing into the fabric of time/space and reality. This touches onto quantum physics which is so mindblowing it's akin to landing a helicoptor into the Collossem 2000 years ago. It's science to us, magic to them.
PigFish
... I can always find myself on Google Maps! That is what I know for sure!!! -LOL Oh, and for the record, truth, being defined by a mob of people with no link to reality is nothing new!!! I thought I might just toss that out!!! -Piggy
Yagermeister
I've seen these theories on the internet myself as well. I saw one where "half the people" believe New Zealand used to be located NE of Australia. They even found some old obscure map showing it in that position, so obviously some sort of reality shift must have happened.

Cep
I guess the best thing to do is to find one of these books from said time period and see how the name is spelled?
ShortFatHokie
I remember it being spelled with an "E". I also recall Mandela being SA president and dying just a few years ago. Didn't realize they had changed the spelling from "e" to "a" until now.

Akela3rd
My darling Mrs, after being highly offended by my addition of an inflatable palm tree to our new garden patio (aka The Tiki Lounge), described me as " a cross between Alf Garnet and a baboon" and "like Homer Simpson but not yellow". I now don't know who I am or what I look like - now that's some quantum sh*t cos I could be both or neither depending on the particle arrangements and their relativity. And the palm tree has disappeared...
