demer Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Buy a sampler first and see what you like before committing to boxes. 1
Popular Post PigFish Posted June 28, 2016 Popular Post Posted June 28, 2016 Contact our host, a friend of mine and a wonderful cigar vendor, and ask him to pick you some singles, or buy one of his sampler packages. While I certainly have an opinion, it is that of a 30+ year smoker and is highly biased to my taste. Having someone that can objectively view current stock for quality, and not focus on your "newness" would be the best advice I can give. Look at a broad selection of regular production items and see what they offer, offer in toto, and not filtered via bias of what you 'should' like! Best of luck on your journey and welcome to the forum. -Piggy 7
RijkdeGooier Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 The site host is also a vendor. He has an excellent starter's sample, which covers a lot of ground as an introduction into Cubam cigars. Write Diana (warriorprincess is her handle) a polite message and she will handle the details.
seattledude Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Great suggestions on sampler. That is the way I did it too, BUT if you MUST have the box right away I would recomend starting with small format. Cant go wrong with: Montecristo No4 or No5 Ramon Allones Small Club Coronas Bolivar Coronas Junior Partagas Shorts H.Upmann Half Conora 3

Jimboh Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 I will 100% agree with Bolivar CJ's and Party Shorts. Solid examples of good CC's to get you started and they won't break the bank
maxcjs0101 Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 If someone asked me that question i'd advice him to first try a Monte 4/Party Shorts/RASCC and a BCJ, then decide.
PointFivePast Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Sampler, sampler, sampler. I went the same way starting and chose to buy a few boxes. Now I find myself seeking out samplers and fivers to fill in the gaps in my palate and knowledge. The boxes are pretty and a good deal but early on the samplers are better for building a point of reference. I wish I had tried some samplers first so I had an idea of what there was out there. Even now with a cooler filled with CC's I find myself being surprised by marcas I have yet to try.
PapaDisco Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 3 box starter set eh? I'd go with: PSD4 (10 or 25) Monte 4 (tubo or not) Punch Punch
Akela3rd Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 I will 100% agree with Bolivar CJ's and Party Shorts. Solid examples of good CC's to get you started and they won't break the bank Mmmm... BCJ... Good idea... Might have to have one later
gweilgi Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Good suggestions all, but I'd suggest the RyJ #3 -- it's milder than the RA or Partagas so won't overwhelm the untutored palate, and IME it is also more readily available.
Crash712us Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Can't believe no has suggested hoyo epi #2? A true Cuban classic in my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
