luv2fly Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 50 people dead and 53 hospitalized according to news reports. Thoughts and prayers to the victims and the families.
TomF Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 It's looking more and more like a homophobic hate crime to me. Latin night on Gay Pride weekend at a gay night club off the beaten path in Orlando? If it were ISIS wouldn't he have gone to Disney or Universal?
Sigaar Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Probable radical Islamic terrorism. Guy was investigated in past by FBI. And, of course, these extremists are very anti-gay. They're known to execute gays, too. 1
Cohiba007 Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 I live in Orlando. This club is off the beaten path of other downtown bars so presented as a soft target without much security. I agree with the statements that the terrorist was an ISIS sympathizer at the least from all the reports coming in. And yes, these extremists are very anti gay but this was not a hate crime. It was terrorism. Update. The gunman had called 911 from inside the club and claimed allegiance to ISIS 2
LGC Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Please keep any classless comments to yourselves. Anxious to see if our president will take any steps to counter these terrorist activities, rather than push personal agendas. 3

Innocent people lost their lives. Period. As someone who has been personally affected by this type of violence I feel for those who are affected. Please don't go down the path that will ultimately result in the thread being locked or deleted.
DoubleDD Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 My condolences go out to the victims and their families. Horrible chain of events. On a side note, if the public really knew just how many people were on the terrorist watch list, living normal lives next to you, it would terrify you. These events can happen anywhere, as they have throughout the world. Be vigilant and be safe. If something seems out of place or abnormal notify the authorities.

Colt45 Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 It's sad. though i know better, I sometimes feel I've grown accustomed. my feeling that humans are the foulest creatures on the planet is too often reinforced. my feeling that sub-species of humans live among us is self evident. there has always been bad. as we allow it, there always will be. 3

skalls Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 He didn't have a gun license. He held an security license which allows him to have a gun on duty, but owning a gun in and of itself doesn't require a license. THe fact that he was investigated by the FBI but nothing happened should be shocking but the ineptitude of our government is on full display here. The shocking brutality of what one human will do to others sadly isn't anything new. 3
demer Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Saw this come up on my phone last night and all I could do is shake my head in disbelief. This world we live in.....
eswary Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Yes, I mean, this guy was investigated by FBI but he still had a gun license? First and foremost my thoughts and prayers are with those affected by this horrific and cowardly act of violence. This ****** was investigated by the FBI TWICE and purchased 2 weapons legally last week according to NBC news. I'm all for the rights of gun owners(I am one), but we as Americans have to come together and make it much much more difficult to purchase a firearm in today's world.. He had a security background check and passed despite the past investigations by the FBI. Did anyone run him against the ATF background check like average buyers do with the ATF Form 4473 or class III firearm buyers type of check? I have a friend that gets held up every time for an open container violation he had in high school over 20yrs ago. How did they not see this guy coming? 2
Duxnutz Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 For crissakes can we ban/limit access to automatic weapons already?!?! How much blood? (Pro gun just not pro weapons of mass devastation)
jwr0201 Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 As others have said, horribly sad and prayers to those who lost lives and those who were injured. My daughter knew two of the victims. Horrible things ISIS is capable of. The cowards deliberately chose this soft target of peaceful, defenseless victims. Had they chosen a country bar in most other areas of our state, I suspect things may have gone badly for the murderer. On another note, let's not get into the vilification of US gun laws. All of us have opinions on other country's laws, but this is an international forum. Let's keep it civil and gentlemanly. BTW, The weapons used were not automatic weapons and not class 3. Gun license or not, weapons can be had illegally in any country on earth. Licensing cannot prevent that. I also hope that the politicos can put aside the urge to use this for political gain and focus on preventing the next occurrence. 2
