CigarSeeker Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend and a blessed Mother's Day with your loved ones. As usual, I enjoyed few sticks this weekend. Something that I have noticed few times and I been meaning to ask and please excuse my ignorance, I'm still trying to learn a thing or two .. This is usually not visible on my cigars till it gets close to the cherry. I was just wondering what makes this happen? And what is it? Good or bad? Etc.. Thank you. This shot was on a Monte 5 This shot was on a BCJ
Rye Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Looks to me like the glue they use in rolling. Likely some left on the torcedores fingers and it shows up when warm. 1
jcorona Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 I agree, looks like glue. Have the same on a couple of af short stories I have.
CigarSeeker Posted May 9, 2016 Author Posted May 9, 2016 Glue? Haa... I'm smoking glue .. That doesn't sound good at all. I didn't get any glue notes in my smoking thankfully haha.. It really starting to sound like cc are made by bunch of people who really don't know what they are doing? .. You never see such bad quality control in any other cigars (nicruguan, dominican, etc). Why Cubans ? I would consider Bolivar and Montecristo one of the better brands out of Cuba? What gives?

CigarSeeker Posted May 9, 2016 Author Posted May 9, 2016 You don't smoke many Fuentes, do you??? Never have... I had few Padron and My Father.
vinnyvega Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Never have... I had few Padron and My Father. Fuentes may have the best construction I have ever seen, and they are notorious for their overuse of glue. It's pretty bad. 1
CigarSeeker Posted May 9, 2016 Author Posted May 9, 2016 Fuentes may have the best construction I have ever seen, and they are notorious for their overuse of glue. It's pretty bad. Best construction because it's all glued together pretty good lol.. I do however want to try the Fuente Opusx. I hear good things.

I have seen glue on many NC cigars, as well as green stains, yellow stains, etc. Talking about QC because of a tiny trace of vegetable glue, are you serious?
CigarSeeker Posted May 9, 2016 Author Posted May 9, 2016 I have seen glue on many NC cigars, as well as green stains, yellow stains, etc. Talking about QC because of a tiny trace of vegetable glue, are you serious? I hardly smoke NC... I could count on 2 hands the NC sticks I had in my life and honestly I never had such issues but then again I didn't have a long term experience with them to speak based on. I don't think It would be as fraustrating if it was just the small tiny speck of veggie glue on my stick. This was just an addition to the loose latches falling off my Monte PE boxes? The bad print quality inside my RASS box, or the excessive glue on the bands... Excuse my rant lol
Popular Post CaptainQuintero Posted May 9, 2016 Popular Post Posted May 9, 2016 Definitely a wiped booger, the cigar must have been rolled during the winter season where Cuban rollers typically catch colds and flu. You wont find it on premium NC cigars though, the QC is much higher and people are employed to wipe off any booger smears post-rolling 6

Popular Post foursite12 Posted May 9, 2016 Popular Post Posted May 9, 2016 Don't worry; it snot anything to be concerned about. 10
TCContender Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 I really hope it's just glue instead? o_0 The BCJ is MAR/14 and the Monte is JUN/14. Summer colds are the worst....
zeedubbya Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Fuentes may have the best construction I have ever seen, and they are notorious for their overuse of glue. It's pretty bad. It's strange this topic came up today because I just had a guy at work show me a AF Anejo which had glue all over the head. Covered in it. He thought maybe someone had put it where they weren't supposed to or something. He mentioned something about some Lewinsky lady or something? Hmmm... Anyway, yes a lot of AF I've seen have lots of glue on them. No biggie, most times it's kind of sweet it seems to me. 2

Once I did an experiment and the picture looks exactly like test #7 - I named it "boogers test". Test #9 was way more interesting - I named it "Clinton's test". 3

I know sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, but I'm happy wallowing in my own pit of filth! It's just neutral vegetable extract gum, no taste or smell etc even when burnt, it's not a glue as in something chemical or industrial. You don't see it that often really, certainly nothing to worry about. Lick your thumb and rub it off if it really bothers you 1

I mean two sticks in 1 day ! Lol

CigarSeeker Posted May 10, 2016 Author Posted May 10, 2016 Sounds like the perfect description of what are sometimes referred to as "fakes"...just sayin'... Not possible .. All were purchased here.
Lant63 Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Its glue, it means the cigars are fake. Especially, if its on the bands. Never happens on cuban cigars let alone high-end releases.
eswary Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Best construction because it's all glued together pretty good lol.. I do however want to try the Fuente Opusx. I hear good things. Let Me know when that itch for trying Opus is unbearable, I have a ton. Great cigars 1
