El Presidente Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Current Cigar and Non Cigar trends that make you go "What The Hell? 1. Cigars I can't afford....and I am in the business 2. Kale. As a flavour food...it has no redeeming features. You can't escape it. Every Hipster burger has it...every salad...on every nosh eaterie dessert menu 3. The humble sausage. Our local butcher had 22 types of gourmet sausages last Friday incuding a Blueberry, Pork and Chardonnay number fo $18 a kilo. There wasn't a plain pork sausage to be seen While shopping on Saturday Morning .......and to think you can't buy Samboy Tomatto chips and longer

Popular Post cooper669 Posted May 2, 2016 Popular Post Posted May 2, 2016 Huge rg cigars like 58-60.....really? 8
Popular Post skalls Posted May 2, 2016 Popular Post Posted May 2, 2016 1) 56+ RG cigars. Just no 2) E85 -- It's not more efficient. 3) People (not everyone mind you, just this very specific group who think their farts smell great) who drive electric cars and ignore that that they plug them in at night. To be powered by coal or natural gas. 4) Bike lanes on the road and the bikers inability to follow the rules of the road. 5) Organic food -- which is harder on the land, lower yield, costs WAY more, and isn't better by a substantial amount. 5
kuma Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Hey Rob good way to prepare kale. Organic kale if you can find it. One organic lemon. Good cold pressed Italian virgin olive oil. Bottle of Bragg that is a brand name for "Liquid Aminos" all purpose seasoming from soy proein. What you do is squeeze the lemon on the kale, mix in the olive oil, then spray the kale with the Bragg. Place in frig. and wala great kale salad. What happens next is the oil and lemon break down the strength of the kale and makes the kale very easy to chew and process in your system. The bragg is super high in protien; 310 mgs of protein per 1/2 tsp (2.5ml) complete protein with 16 essential and non-essential aminos acids. Give it a try Bragg is great on fish, beef and pork also. 1
David88 Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Cigar trend - ridiculous ring gauges. They make my jaw feel uncomfortable after a while and look like novelty/joke cigars in my opinion. Non-cigar - Man-buns....every time I see them I just think 'why oh why.' 1
Popular Post WhiteMamba Posted May 2, 2016 Popular Post Posted May 2, 2016 Another great Kale recipe is to take a whole bunch of kale and a who bunch of bacon. Fry the bacon in the pan to your desired crispness. Then when the bacon is done eat it and throw the kale away. It's just that easy. 27
RWhiz Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 It goes with cigars, whisky, potato chips, or sausage for that matter, "Ultra Premium" everything. There seems to be a new class of just about any consumer staple which is the "Ultra-Super-Reserve-Limited" line costing quite a bit more and only slightly better if that!
MIKA27 Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 I'm with you on the chips Rob The same company also make the below, I'm yet to try, though I love the old Sam Boy chips. I'd much prefer to cook the steak on the Webber and make a nice side of home made Chips/Roast spuds and a bucket of sour cream

I prefer solutions, not workarounds. Lots of recent articles I've read (I have no sources to cite) show that kale isn't much healthier than iceberg lettuce. The only thing kale has going for it is a marketing department.
garbandz Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 wagyu beef........right ...... probably there is a PICTURE of some wagyu beef in the processing plant,on a plate with a big-ass pile of their SPECIAL RESERVE "WhiteTruffle and Century Plant Hearts " potato chips.
Zigatoh Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 About Kale: http://craftsmanship.net/the-vegetable-detective/ One part of this story suggests it could be any leafy green, this Hubbard fella could only afford to test one so picked Kale due to it being so common among his clients. It also reads as an advert for this 'detox' rubbish... And they don't know where the thallium is coming from, so is this also true of British Kale for example. Definitely not enough to stop me from eating cruciferous veg considering their proven health benefits - fancy reducing your odds of getting cancer for example, or improving your prognosis if you do? I will however only eat the horrible tasting muck blended and chugged :-P Edit - Non Cigars - Detoxing - ok it's not new, but it's still current and it's a total nonsense.
jwr0201 Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Cigars; the current trend to vilify cigar smokers and the limitation / eradication of available places one can go indoors to have a nice cigar with a drink. Non-Cigars; miserable bastages that go ape-**** over valid price increases on various luxury items and attempt to be abusive to show their displeasure. These same malcontents are typically driving Benzes, Porsches, Hummers, etc. Like to turn Ozzy Man loose on 'em! 1
Blazer Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 60-70-80 RG cigars The rash of CT wrappers appearing from every company Marketing by some companies who claim to have access to "Rare" tobacco that no other companies have Marketing a "found stash" of cigars that were sitting in the corner of a warehouse that somehow went unnoticed for years Buying seconds, creating a crazy name/packaging, calling them a limited edition and asking an obscene price for them Cigars that are meant to be paired with specific beers Cigars infused with beer-Yuck! Golfers/Celebrities buying/starting wineries- Yeah I'll buy a wine because Jim Nantz, the CBS broadcaster's, name is on the bottle! Facebook Drug Commercials
Puros Y Vino Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 The social acceptance of marijuana in Canada. While I have no issues with the weed itself, other than the rank smell it produces. To each their own. I am peeved that it is being greeted with open arms. Our Federal and Provincial gov'ts can smell the potential tax windfall. The problem is that it is still not a legal substance to grow or consume without a special license from the gov't for those prescribed by actual MD's. So, while its still illegal, I've noted the following. Dispensary's are popping up everywhere. They will "prescribe" anyone who walks in with any made up condition. You wait 14 days and then you can start 420'ing. The police do not enforce the clearly illegal sales going on. While the dispensaries linger in legal limbo land, their suppliers do not. They are growing weed without a license. In many cases, the suppliers are tied to organized crime/bike gangs. So in effect, the gov't is turning a blind eye to a serious bunch of criminals so our Prime Minister can look "cool" for trying to legalize it. There is possible consideration to allow medicinal users to light up in places where "no smoking" is allowed. Legal tobacco, no. Stank weed. Yes? Tobacco users have been forced off every patio, almost every park and can't be within 9 meters of an entrance to a B&M or bar/resto, etc. At best you can smoke on the sidewalk or on the road. Weed? Anytime, anyplace. Though I do not see them on bar patios. So, while marijuana has been maligned for a long time and for the wrong reasons, it's social acceptance and legal limbo status rubs me the wrong way especially as a cigar smoker who can't find a public space to consume a long, legal product. The gov't has no credibility. They'll let it slide until it becomes legal and then reap the tax benefits. Many believe that the proceeds will make alchohol tax revenues look like petty cash. Oh....and the Kardashians...Useless, talentless people. 4
HarveyBoulevard Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Skinny suits... Sales clerk: Good afternoon sir, may I interest you in a suit with super short sleeves and pants about two sizes too small so you look like a nine year old playing dress up? Customer: Why sure, that sounds great. Make sure the jacket barely covers my belt. I'd hate to look silly. 4
Jager223 Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 I know the reasoning behind it, but the trend for non-age statement single malt whisky winds me up. Espescially when they cost what a 10-12 year old malt used to and, generally speaking, aren't as tasty. Never really understood the way people (espescially in the UK) go crazy for Nando's either. It's just chicken and chips with a selection of sauces, get over it! 3
Colt45 Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Cigar-wise: none really - like wine and many products, there are trends, but I think you can always find a core reliability. That said, I'm often surprised at the number of cigar brands on the NC side of things. fashions come and go, classic never goes out of style. Non cigar-wise: first thing that always comes to mind is the obsession with "smart" phones........
dvickery Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Any rings on cigars ... More than one ring ugh . Non-cigar ... Pelletized coffee ... Tasimo/kuerig at about 7$ for 1 1/2 pots of ( not very good ) coffee . Derrek 4
btp1979 Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Cigars- more to the NC side, but packaging is getting insane. A box that holds 20 Coronas shouldn't have the same footprint as a small television. 1
Orion21 Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Organic Milk: OK, so you want "healthy" milk for your kids? Organic you say? It must be Organic or it's got nasty stuff in it like growth hormones and antibiotics from the cows you say? Wrong! Organic milk is ultra processed food. I had a discussion with a dairy farmer recently and he said the whole thing is rubbish! He said the best milk is the freshest locally produced milk you can find. All dairy farms have to keep their cows health, so treating sick animals is required by law. Most dairy farms will isolate and treat sick cows until health and dump their milk. Antibiotics will then pass through their system within 72 hours of treatment. This whole myth of treating cows that get sick and it contaminating the milk is hogwash. Also, in the USA there is no prescribed/enforced definitions of what "Organic" milk actually is. In reality Organic milk is highly processed ultra pasteurized milk that the producers have successfully convinced many people is "healthier" than normal milk. Mainly through marketing! I pride myself on eating as little processed food as possible and Organic milk happens to be the most processed form of milk you can buy for one simple reason. It must stay fresh while it's shipped all over the country. Case in point, my state has no dairy farms that call themselves "Organic," so all of the "Organic" milk in the supermarkets here is shipped in from out of state. This is the reason it is ultra-pasteurized and processed . . . so it won't go bad as quickly. So in essence if you buy "Organic" milk you are paying $5-$7 per gallon for highly processed pseudo-healthy milk - when you could be paying $1.79 - $2.99 for fresher less processed milk. 3
Gusmab980 Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Cigar: The NC Companies saying that CC aren't that great and their expensive product are the best in the world also over size cigars like those 4x60-80 who the hell smoke something like that? Other: gluten free and organic crap. Really? Have a steak with a nice toasted garlic bread.
