Tried doing some research on this cigar, but haven't come up with much of anything. Has anybody sampled any '99-'01 stock recently? Thanks.

I have.

About 3 left from a '99 or '00 box. Can't quite remember.

I got the box from Rob. They were quite box pressed. And almost double claro.

What I can remember, is that they are an incredible cigar. Easily Top 5 of all time.

Mine are reasonably box pressed also. Can't remember the year, but they are damn good. Reminds me I need to sample them more often.

I happened to find a box in the wild nearly 5 yrs ago.

Cool I'm contemplating a 1999/2000 box but they're nearly $500. Sounds like they might be worth it...

Definitely worth it... (although, I would offer $450) I am just about to smoke one right now (my 3rd one in the past week) They are amazing...Box Code OSU DEC 00

I've got about 2/3 of a box left and haven't smoked any for quite some time. Few plugged issues on these for me, but the Churchill De luxes I have could have been driven onto the ground.

I had a box ( forget year offhand - will check to see if I still have the box ) which I enjoyed very much. I found them smoother, more vanillan than their stable mates. That said, I personally could not imagine spending that much on a single box of them.

$500???? surprised.gif

There is a reason these cigars could be had for $50 from swiss vendors back in 2007/2008…

First of all, this is bs, they were $150 to $200, because I purchased a bunch of them... And... that was 8 years ago...The years 2000 and 2001 are the most problematic, and I might stay away from them, unless you knew the seller, and the seller would stand behind his product... Or, I might offer $350 for them.. On the other hand, some of my best tasting PdP's are from 2000....If they are from 1999, they would be worth another $3 to $4 a stick to me, because my 99 stock has been fantastic... Age absolutely adds value and frankly anyone that says otherwise probably either doesn't age cigars or is looking to snag absurd deals on aged cigars. I do not sell cigars, so I rarely have to deal with this issue from a seller side. That being said, to disregard both the age and release year of a given cigar is absurd. For example, you may be able to get a current production box of RASS for around $200 but they may be virtually UN-smokeable for 2 years. Try finding a box of 2005 RASS these days and you will probably triple your price. Look at a box of SLR A for another example. A 2014 box may cost you around $200 a box. However, for those around a bit, you know that the market was flooded with 2000/2001 stock for less than $100 a box because of the concerns with the year, so would it be reasonable to price those at the same point or a bit higher than a current box? How about a box of 97 SLR A, which regularly sell for closer to $600 a box? It is very difficult to have a formula for aged pricing, and the market generally determines the value... And... if you look at the reviews for this cigar, they are worth having in your humidor...

I tried to like these, but they were rather unsmokeable. Metallic and musty. However, I heard the mid 90's were very good.
