I'm another who likes beer just fine with a cigar - as long as it's not very hoppy, or syrup malty. Light and crisp is fine, white / wheat beers, etc. I think my favorite, though, might be Guinness stout. Personally, I don't think it strong or overbearing - actually rather sweet. It's always interesting to hear the various responses.

I didn't know water was a pairing option! I have to try that...

This is true. Every cigar pairs well with water.

I am an IPA lover but they do not pair well with cigars IMO. I often drink them with cigars since i love both independently but they dont ehance one another for me. I prefer belgium style beers paire

This is a subject I am fairly well versed in. I work at a cigar lounge in Roseville, California that also features ten beers on tap. So far, everyone who has mentioned that IPA's don't go well with cigars is right on the money. They are however very popular right now. Three of our ten beers at the moment are IPA's. In my opinion the best beers to pair with cigars are Amber, Brown, and Red Ale's. Porters and Stouts also work rather well. Myself, I like a nice European Lager, or a Pilsner.

I'm far from being a beer drinker, in fact beer can sit in the fridge for months on end without me batting an eye...but when i have tried the beer and cigar combo i've only ever enjoyed it with an NC. The best for me with CC's was with a Cuban beer Buccanero and a Trinidad coloniales which i can still distinctly remember how tasty it was lol...

One of my favorites I learned when stationed in Germany. Make a rambler out of a pilsner like Bitburger Pills or Warsteiner. Add Coca Cola, Orange Juice or Lemonade to the beer to bring the bitterness down. Coke rambler with fuller body, OJ or Lemonade for those cigars with citrus notes.

I usually like my darker stouts and porter beers with a med-full body cigar and mix Bock, Ales, Wheat (Weisse), with medium and lighter cigars. Look for characteristics of the beers, caramel, citrus etc to pair with similar known characteristics of the smoke. Stouts and porters with Boli, Party, Monte, VR and sometimes Cohiba. Belgian styles are especially good with RA IMO. Wheat styles with Hoyo, Trinidad and Cohiba. As most have mentioned, I don't care for IPA with cigars, but I often do it anyway. Summit has a new Earl Gray ESB that pairs well despite the bitterness

I don't drink a huge variety of beers these days and I find the stuff I do drink doesn't pair well at all. Ie. Guiness. I enjoy some of the lighter beers with most CC's. Coronas work well. Hoegaarden too. Innis & Gunn is a no brainer. Kilkenny goes well with a stronger cigar IMO.

The only time I have a beer is with my CCs. I enjoy a double chocolate Bock, Oatmeal Bock and have recently had a Not Your Father's Root Beer that paired fairly well.

I drink Cuba Libre's about 90% of the time while smoking CC's, but I sometimes like the sweet fruity flavor of this beer to sip. I water it down just a little, though, to cut the strength of the fruit flavor, and pour it over a little ice.

I love that stuff. Has enough punch the way that it is but I picked up a bottle of the Limited Edition they offer not realizing it comes in at 10.7 AVB (Vs the 5.9% standard). Both are phenomenally good.

I thought I was the only one who didn't drink an IPA with a cigar. I usually enjoy Guinness with a cigar. I also enjoy red wine with a cigar.

Prefer a Erdinger or Paulaner weissbieir. Had quite a few Hoegaarden Belgium white ales this summer that also went well with a nice Cuban....

Absolutely love the IPA's and DIPA's. However, they don't seem to work well with a stick IMHO. After a friend sent over this article I had pause for concern. Come on man...that's just plain WRONG! Has to be....right?confused.gif

No, I don't need a man-siere...laugh.png

Never found a beer or wine for that matter that paired well with a CC or even a NC. Liquor too. I will do a Dr. Pepper, RC Cola or sparkling water. Not sure why but I guess that is just my personal taste. Even in my drinking days that was true.

I love craft beer and brewing my own but there's something about a crisp Coors lite that's just refreshing.

Even though I prefer craft beers I have to agree with refreshing. On hot days at the lake or working out doors and your exhausted and super thirsty there is very few things if anything more refreshing than an ice cold light lager beer like Coors light, MGD, Miller High Life etc served in an draft mug just pulled out of the freezer covered in ice.
