If you have a spare destop and a few cheap and cheerfulls, give this a crack. I do it with my Quintero Favorito bundles only because they have an open draw which makes them particularly receptive and are cheap.

Take your destop. Remove the humidifier.

Take your bundle of Favoritos (or other cheapies). Clip the cap of each and place them in your desktop.

Take a Jam Jar lid (or any other shallow container) and fill it with Cointreau. I use a jam jar lid becasue it has a large surface area. You can use rum or anything else for the liquor. I use Cointreau for that citrus note.

close the lid and put them away for 30 days. The longer the better.

You end up with slightly flavoured cigars. In the case of the favoritos, citrus and toasty Cuban tobacco.

Now before the purists have a crack at me.....I was first shown how to do this by one Jamie "Hamlet" Paredes biggrin.png ......he uses Santiago rum.

Brilliant idea! I have a number of cheap NC cigars that I bought back in the day to fill my first humidor. They are still hanging around since I have nicer things to smoke now. In addition, I also have an old glasstop desk humidor I don't use anymore. Will give this a whirl soon!

Sorry Roberto...... I normally trust your judgement, but will have to pass on this suggestion! !

I saw that done with rum in a cigar shop on Calle Ocho in Miami a few years ago

I've done it with Partagas Mille Fleurs, Gispert Habaneras No.2 etc. and cognac or armagnac but the result was a bit disappointing.

I suppose it would have worked better with a sweeter liquor like rum or even Grand Marnier…

... used to do this with tinned Macanudos (a helluva long time ago) in a ceramic pipe tobacco jar with an apricot liqueur.

Yes, I admit to it...

Now I just smoke real cigars with real flavors and I can ignore such folly! -the Pig

El Aljibe restaurant in Havana used to do this with a desktop of cigars. They kept a shot glass of rum in there to flavour them.

I only ever tried one. It's not really my thing, though I could see why people like it.

I found the flavuor very sweet, sickly sweet.

I gotta try this. I have an antique cedar and milk glass lined humidor a friend gave me on the cheap but seasoned well and holds humidity.

Home made Gurkha's...only they would be a 100 times better.

Clinton came up with a alternative flavor infusion technique for Gurkhas a few years back, didn't he??

Funny you should mention this, I was talking to bloke recently who worked in Cuba (shipping agent) for a few years and we struck up a conversation about cigars. He did the same, but with watered down rum and herbs (??). Said the straight rum was too overpowering. I don't know what herbs he would have added. Was jealous that he had his cigars rolled every morning with his preferred blend and picked them up on the way to work. Smoke some during the day and put some down for later, what a life. Anyway married a cuban lass and came back to OZ.

I ordered a box. Never tried them and I was digging through my cabinet lookiing for what to add and found my first choice.

1. Patron Orange Liquer

But I also found a few other bottles that are simply aging in my cabinet. Think any of these might be better?

Drambuie

Razzmatazz Raspberry liquer

Medori Melon Liquer

Jack Daniels Old No 7

Crown Royal

You realize that distilled liquors don't age in the bottle, right?

Yes. Just used the shorter term to get the idea rather than "Just gathering dust and taking up space in my cabinet."

Hmm, will this help those peso cigars I was gifted?
