I had some excellent cigrs last week and a few ordinary ones.

Best: Romeo y Julieta Short Churchil LAS SEP 14

R&J at it's very best. My good mate Laz had one I selected for him on the deck Friday. It was the perfect Short Churchill with a Rosado wrapper and flawless construction. He described it as like smoking a Turkish Delight. I had one from the same box on Sunday. Roesewater, viscous smoke, milk chocolate. Brilliant.

Worst: Partagas Serie P 2 GEO ABR 14

I should have known better. That pale green wrapper is why it was in the humidors seconds bin. We have a seconds bin in the walk in humidor for cracked, broken sticks and ones that are seriously ugly.

Whispy thin flavour, bitter, metalic. Couldn't get past the first third before having to put it down.

Let us know what were your best and worst of the past week ok.gif

Best - Por Larranaga Encantos. Brilliant cigar with just an amazing creamy sweetness that I'm becoming very fond of. Curious to see how the box develops.

Worst - Bolivar Petite Corona. First dud I've experienced with a BPC. Sour, bitter, but considering I've had countless others that were tremendous I'm not concerned.

Best = PL Montecarlo

worst= Monte Medio, PUO MAY 15 to fresh/moist with a metallic edge. muted flavor that shows promise but needs a bit of rest

Best= HdM Epicure No.1. Definitely want to pick up some of these!

Worst=The PL Picadores I just finished smoking. Caramel was there...behind a lot of harshness. Got 1/2 of the way through and set it down.

Best,,,,,,,,2001 Camacho Corojo......attenuated Nica in all its glory,smooth,well balanced,tasty.......

Runner up.........1995 La Gloria Soberano..........silky and subtle, undercurrent of richness, heavenly aromas............

Parti short.......hard to believe anyone could roll a minuto that I could not ream and smoke, takes a special talent to roll a cigar that badly

Best: RASS at a barbeque in the desert, enjoyed as a breeze started to sweep in and accompanied with generous amounts of both bourbon and pork tenderloin.

Worst: Liga Privada Papas Fritas at the Redbull Global Rallycross, following and followed by Bolivar PCs which were great. The Papas Fritas was one of my favorites before I got into CCs and its interesting how tastes change with exposure in such a short time.

Best: A Warped La Hacienda.

Worst: An unbanded "custom roll" I picked up in St. Augustine in late July. Turned out to be a short filler special. First cigar I've ever had where little bubbles of acrid black tar well up out of the head. Barf!

Best: Tie between an HDM Epi 1 and Monte 2. Both from a sampler from our host. Great cigars.

Worst: My Father Flor de Las Antillas. Smoking my NC to make space for CC on the way. This cigar was just bland and a wind tunnel. Didn't enjoy it at all.

Best: Short Church. TAL FEB 13. Smooth all the way to a 1/2" nub.

Worst: Luchador from Sam Leccia wasn't horrible just a whole lotta the same. 60 RG is just too much of anything.

Best: A Dominion Black Lotus robusto. Tried one last fall when my buddy gave them to me, I suspect straight from B&M and a 23 Celsius 70% rh environment and it was well not good. Vey harsh and tastebud destroying. Fast forward to two days ago leaving it's happy home of 18 and 65% with a couple days drybox and a fantastic view of Long Beach Vancouver Island and it was damn good first time in a long time I nubbed an NC. I think I'll send the company a nice job e-mail.

Worst: Quorum Corona. Actually it was really good just not as good as the Dominion from the day before. Smoked this one while making dinner while camping at long beach.

That was it for last week I think. Oh no wait there was the RyJ John Holmes AKA Wide Churchill another gift, not a bad smoke if you can get past the pain of a dislocated jaw.

Best - Party D4, this box has felt off since I cracked it open but this one was classic party.

Worst - Monte PE, from plugged to a wind tunnel when I pulled a stem from behind the cap, harsh smoke, ditched after the first third.

Ha! Well, I only had two cigars last week! frown.gif Had a great dinner with colleagues and somebody else brought the habanos this time! :cigar: And a fine sampling it was; I was treated to a Cohiba Robusto Supremo and finished up the evening with a lovely Siglo VI. Sorry I don't have the box code data. The Siglo VI slightly edged out the Robusto Supremo, but that big fatty would certainly not have been deserving of a 'worst' in any category. I'm guessing the Siglo VI's were the older sticks as they had been resident in my friend's humi at Club Mac, whereas he mentioned the Robusto Supremos he'd just picked up at duty free in Heathrow (ouch! dollarsign.gif ). The Supremos had a bit of youthful bite, just enough to add interest without detracting from the smoke; or maybe it was jet lag. :P The VI's were just glorious from start to finish and I nubbed mine, which I don't often do.

Anyway, a great dinner, great company and some great sticks.

had a magnificent petit edmundo last night

SLR Serie A ...have a 50 cab from PCC vintage program and every one of them so far has burnt hot right through the middle in no time

Best was a Monte 2 I had with my morning coffee yesterday. I smoked it down to a nub.

The worst was a VR Famosos. I think this cigar has great potential because the first half inch is wonderful, but the rest is just not good to my taste yet. I'll check on these next year.

Best- Tatuaje TAA 2014, delicious broadleaf from start to nub. Loved every minute. VR Famosos yesterday was right up there too.

Worst- HUHC, poor burn and tasted like dry wood.

CORO EUP 5/08. I have finally started to use Bovedia 62% RH packs in my desk top and my cigars have never been better.

What a great cigar.

HU Conni A LUB 3/14. I bought a five of these. Almost one of those soapy tasting cigars but it was covered by a floral taste that I did not enjoy. It was gross. Fake? I doubt it but I did get it in trade.

Oh yes, I had to take a ride with a friend. He had two cello bundled Connecticut wrapped Dominican bundled coronas that were so bad I had to chuck mine after about 15 minutes. Never mind manners, that cigar was going to stain my palate for a week.

Didn't smoke too many cubans this week so....

Best - D'Crossier 512 Corona Gorda - tastes like a siglo series, cuban lovers should try it.

Worst - Oliva V figurado - Absolutely no taste and draw sucked

Posted

Best: MLO MAY 11 PL Encantos. I know the thought is to age them a little longer, but I don't know how much better they're going to be. Might be the best thing I've smoked in the last few months, let alone this week.

Worst: BUM JUN 14 H. Upmann Magnum 50. Loose draw, spongy. Burned really hot. Very unpleasant and I just pitched it. Worst of a pretty solid box.

Posted

Best: PL Encantos. Perfect draw, nice and smooth

Worst: Hoyo EE '08. Too tight to draw. Didn't even bother lighting it, so I'm not sure it counts. Real bummer since it was the last one out of the box too.

Posted

Best: Ramon allones H&F 225. I am eating my words that this is a bad cigar when I smoked it when first released. Always happy to be proven wrong in a good way

Worst: PL Monte Carlo. Plugged cigar with very difficult draw.

Posted

Best: d4 mul july14. My only complaint was it being windy out and that sped up the burn alot.

Worst: bolivar coronas jr. The rest of this box has been excellent, horrible tight draw and what flavors were when i got it opened up were pale and muted.

Posted

Best: 2011 Upmann Connie 1 purchased from a 24:24 a couple months ago. I don't have the box code readily available but definitely the best of the week.

Worst: Liga Privada Feral Flying Pig. Terribly disappointing smoke. I have had good ones before but this one was not very good. Smoked it during my honeymoon this past week and was upset I wasted my time on a special occasion.

Best - Bolivar Libertadores

Brilliant Bolivar flavors, but super creamy.

Worst - Liga lancero

Burnt roofing tar rolled into a cigar. I smoked 2 inches and tossed it.
