bugg4672 Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 I have been told by many people to remove the cellophane wrappers from my cigars before putting them in my humidor, many have told me to leave them on, NC and CC alike. I have severe OCD, my humidor has to be kept just right. I have one shelf for storing boxes, the next shelf has my 7 trays for singles, the next 2 shelves I display opened boxes and the last shelf I keep some desktop humidors, 2 are A's these are for my friends that know cigars, the other is my B humidor this is for a few of my friends that like cigars but would not know the difference between a Cohiba and a Swisher Sweet. For the safety of my little babies I keep the cellophane on because I am always moving and rearranging them due to smoking more of one type or buying something for a special event coming up like a friends birthday or anniversaries. So my fellow FOH brothers, how do you prefer your stick?
Colt45 Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Well, what do you do with cigars that come without cello? ( I'm unaware of "recent" cello wrapped Havanas)
bugg4672 Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 Try my hardest not to handle them to much but a few NC I buy from a shop in Charleston, SC are without cellophane.
bugg4672 Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 Forgot to ad, at one time I was buying boxes of cellophane wrappers from a company out Texas that sold all kinds of cellophane products I could get a bag of 100 for $3.99. It started becoming a pain plus 1 out of 20 or 25 I would end up damaging the wrapper a little. Now if it comes in cello it stays on, if it comes with no cello it gets no cello. I was just wondering what other members prefer or suggest with or without.
Smallclub Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 So my fellow FOH brothers, how do you prefer your stick? Cuban 1
bugg4672 Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 @smallclub, I believe that will be my answer soon as well, I'm waiting on my first box to come. I've had a clear Havana Dutch Master which I did not like, and a friend gave me a Maria Guerrero on January 18, 2011 for my 20th wedding anniversary. I loved it but Im not paying what he did, I think it was $65.00 each for them when he bought 10 from a collector back in the 90's.
Lotusguy Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Are we seriously having a cello on or off thread? This forum is going downhill...
MrGinger Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 I am wondering why you have 3 desktop humidors inside your large humidor.
bugg4672 Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 Those I keep for when friends come over, thats is the only time they come out. They do not have a humidifier inside just cigars. I usually have a cookout on the last Saturday of each month and I'll invite a few guys from work and a few close friends, so from about 7 to 11 we sit on the back deck smoke some cigars, grill some burgers and have a few beers. When we do this Ill go in and bring out the humidor with there favorite cigars in them. For me it is easier to put cigars in it and place it in the cabinet and forget about it, I dont have to worry about checking the humidity every week like I do with my desktop on my table. If I did not have the guys coming over once a month I would not have them in there.
bugg4672 Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 BTW, the humidor is 24" deep x 48" wide and 80" high, so I have plenty of room.
LGC Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 All the cello cigars I have are 30+ years old... so I'm good

JohnS Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 I remove cellophane on my Non-Cuban cigars (which aren't many now...about 8% of my inventory). No Cuban hand made cigars have had cellophane since 1992. 1

RijkdeGooier Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Bugg4672, What you don't know is that you have touched on a subject that has been discussed by many over many decades without getting to a definitive conclusion. I would advise to search the board for past threads regarding cellophane wrappers. In case you cannot find all the information you might possibly need and more (unlikely) ask a new question. Good luck with your search. PS: We were all new to this once...

Good luck with your search. PS: We were all new to this once... Thats it in a nutshell there, Im new and joined the cigar world back in January. This forum is home, this is where I ask all my questions I'm not a forum jumper, I try to search before asking but sometimes you just have to ask Since Jan. I have invested close to $4000 in cigars all NC. I just made my first purchase of CC from our great host. If I love them like my NC, Im going to be spending a lot more money. I just want to take every precaution I can to protect my investment. I know from reading other forums before I found my home here that cello is like the wrong question to ask but sometimes you just do. Just a newbie hang in there with me Ill get there I still learning.
CaptainQuintero Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 What's the story with the East India Company chest? Looks fantastic

bugg4672 Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 If Im thinking correctly Gurkha made 1000 of these and sent out to certain B&M. I found this one last week at a yard sale along with a East India trading Co. backpack. Seems the ladies son works at a B&M and he had them in the yard sale. When they were released they were filled with 284 cigars, a combination of Wicked and Red Witch and retailed for $1700.00 I paid $30 for the chest and backpack and filled it with a total of 250 sticks. It has 6 compartments inside a have Prize fighter, Beauty, Warlord, Classic Havana, Red Witch and European Selection. I love Gurhka and I might get my butt kicked in here but Im waiting to see if I will love them more than CC. I will see once my first order of CC arrive, but as of now Gurkha is my favorite. Also there has been a few replies about this thread and the forum going downhill, it seems with all the replies we are headed back uphill a little. I promise not to ever mention the C word again 3

spirit Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Who cares about the Cello on/off debate...??? All I'm seeing is a very impressive looking humidor! Very nice indeed... 1
bugg4672 Posted May 10, 2015 Author Posted May 10, 2015 @spirit Thank you very much, and the awesome thing is I have the greatest wife in the world. She does not care what I buy to go in it, a few times she has even made the comment "is that all you bought, you should have bought a few more to fill that space there".
