The title of the post about ignorance in America was about NC lovers bashing CC's and not knowing anything about them got me thinking about a recent event near me. I have met my fair share of people that seconds into meeting them your brain interrupts and screams at you "This guys a friggin moron." In today's information age that seems to happen more frequently. You would think there would be smarter people out there but who knows, maybe it's always been there but we just never saw it as much because we were not as connected as now.

This incident that happened here just a couple days ago was a shocker here as it is the first mob mentality geared toward assaulting with the possible intent to kill someone. Here are a couple of the brilliant points I would like to make. 1. Father comes home and catches his kid with two others smoking pot and looses his composure. Mouthy friends get mouthy and the father subdues them until cops show up. Apparently the kids smoked it all as the cops could not do anything but make one of the kids leave his car. But they feel disrespected and the father was wrong in trying to detain them for the cops and claim he had threatened to kill them. So they go to their friends and voice their disdain and friends call more friends etc. Dad is in the process of moving the friends car out of his driveway when the mob shows up with bats and clubs and come after him.....destroying their friends car in the process (great friends.) 2. Comments in the news stories on facebook all debate on the legalization of marijuana, it's use etc. A little about the mob and how they should be caught, some suggest self defense while some instantly bash that idea.

But the whole idea of the ignorance and foolhardy of people does not seem to phase me anymore. This flash mob crap that has been hitting the country in urban areas is now here along with the people who want to stand up for them by making them the victims. Kids who don't know what hardship, poverty, abuse, respect and discipline truly are. I know many of our parents maybe thought the same of our generation as we grew up but I think this is different. Anyone else noticing seeing this trend in their areas?

In that article it states.."It's upsetting that 15, 20, potentially 30 kids are out at 10 o'clock at night and it's upsetting why parents aren't holding their kids accountable," Hollander said.

Hold on, this dad was trying to hold his kid to account. We all got disciplined as kids and survived (some of us have thrived)...has the world slowly gone crazy?

Almost forgot. Not public knowledge is that the father is a felon who he has let have his kid throw parties before. Knew his kid was a pot user and so did the neighbors. Real piece of work for a father. I guess this must be the result when you are a friend to your kid instead of their parent.

A bit... Harsh.

I agree with the essence (and the prose!). Perhaps not with the method.

There exist some things that are so serious, one can only joke about them...........I'm not laughing.

Where does one start to clean up the cesspool that is current society?

You cannot effectively verbiate any change, so what is left? Legislation?

Say that word aloud three times and try not to laugh. Or cry........

Enforcement? Trust the trogloditic minions of the police farce?

Education? Subsidised day care with social promotion as a guarantee of... ?

Harsh you say?.......... There is an easy way to do this?

Taking the easy way is WHY we are in this mess.............

Similar **** happening over here as well I think you can boil it down to one word, here in the west (world) there has been a breakdown of the social fabric and a total lack of RESPECT ........

In this world you can do what ever you want as long as you DON'T hurt yourself or others put simply if we RESPECT each other no matter our differences or believes. Just bit of RESPECT from young people today would go a long way.

As more and more wars (and "police actions") are initiated across the globe, who is surprised to find increasing levels of violence among the common citizenry? I'm not.covereyes.gifcoverears.gifcovermouth.gif

I blame media and change in parenting attitudes over the years.

If the media has no influence why are there commercials and irritating advertising. Why am I sitting here typing this.

And Captain Q hit the nail on the head. 50's kids won't see as much wrong in children's actions becoming young parents in the 60's as much as a 60's kid won't see as much wrong in children's actions becoming a young parent in the 70's and so on and so on. It's, oh I don't know a good phrase for it, lets try "Generational Desensitization". It has been going on for centuries. As long as life gets more leisurely and less common sense is required. Idle hands are the devils playground.

It's not that parents are doing the wrong thing by letting their kids get away with to much. They are just getting away with a little more than they did. Unfortunately it has gotten out of hand. In our eyes anyway.

I will leave it at that. I am not the best with big words and sorting out my thoughts first thing in the morning. Of course the picture is far bigger but just a little nibble for thought. IMO anyway.

In the 50s kids had no respect, sexual dancing gyrating hips, listening to rock and roll, slicking their hair back running in gangs

In the 60s kids had no respect, long hair, smoking pot, sleeping around and not being patriotic for the war

In the 70s kids had no respect, spending all their time in the disco with that tight pants showing off their private parts, racing cars in the street and wasting all their money on blow

In the 80s dumb kids, long greasy hair and fighting at rock concerts or punks dens shooting lines of coke and downing vodka, sitting around all day dreaming about being in a band or anarchy, no respect

In the 90s kids sulking about smoking pot and doing heroin, fighting and shooting up the school with Daddy's shotgun then spending all night up on video games or in gangs listening to that hippity hoppity rap music, no respect

As country folks say. people aint got no home training. The so called pros saying dont whip your kids . And your kids dont need to fear you well thats cowpoop.gif The reason I was a good child is because if I wasnt daddy woulda beat dat ass! My ex said are son is scared of you and she let him get away with murder . Then the behavior wasnt cute at 15 so then she wants dad to fix the problem . Well Now that same boy that Cussed out his mom and did what he wanted too. Is 18 living with me and has all kinds of scholarships Full ride scholarships . when he first moved in he tried DAD ONCE and lets just say I gave him a gift that totally changed his perspective on life. and I never had a problem since . I am so proud of the young man he is becoming. If you dont keep your child in check Prisions will . 2thumbs.gif

I've accepted that the only way to afflict change in this world is to do so yourself, by being a compassionate, kind, and caring person to others. Kindness is contagious, unfortunately disrespect and rudeness are more contagious. I'll instill the values and respect I have formed into my children and hope that they transcend the bullshit that is society as I have and realize that being a good human is what's most important.

Theres an old saying a group is only as smart as its dumbest member. Its a sad fact that most people will put their own critical thinking on hold to follow the group. World War 2 and the nazis are an extreem example of where this can leed. Now groups are linked online and use individual examples of injustice to justify mass injustice. Because of course, when one person acts outside the law its easy to blame "the system".
