acidmase Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 PART 1 of 6 ALL SIX PARTS ARE RELEASED I would love to get locked into the room for a night lmfao.... let me know what you guys think! 1
Scroats Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I would love to sit down with this guy and chat. The part at the end is very telling. All the regular smokers I know would prefer to cut and light there own, while many others that come into retail shops love the cut and light service.
JohnS Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Cutting and lighting my cigars as a service? No, not for me but it's great to see the passion behind this service. 2
OZCUBAN Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Wow think I have to change my undies Still would be a great place to be a client 1
Colt45 Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I would love to get locked into the room for a night lmfao.... If you haven't already seen it, might like this as well Link
acidmase Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 Yeah I've seen that... Love his blog
Smallclub Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Still would be a great place to be a client If you think Zino Davidoff was a wanker (10.71%) or a snob (9.82%), you will love that place!
Rushman Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I'd rather get locked in El Pres OLH for a night personally! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk 2
Jeremy Festa Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 He said "childrens" ?? Love his passion and vision though. Sent from my iPhone
Jeremy Festa Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I'd rather get locked in El Pres OLH for a night personally! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Done that. It's scary! Sent from my iPhone
CaptainQuintero Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Loved the videos thanks! I could spend all day in places like that just sniffing and fondling the merchandise before getting thrown out
free85 Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I would love to sit down with this guy and chat. Me too, and I think this is where they standout. People who are attracted to this kind of thing appreciate people who know how to appreciate something. It's always great to see someone who actually cares about what they're providing.
zrotfus Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Amazing! Looks wonderful. And you gotta respect that level of passion.
thecapo Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Excellent! Thanks for sharing. Please inform when part two is released. 1
acidmase Posted February 19, 2015 Author Posted February 19, 2015 all parts are released on youtube! search private cigar bank in the search bar!!!
Ryan Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I met Vahé Gerard briefly in his shop in 2008. At first he was a bit standoff-ish which is fair enough, probably had better things to be doing than spending time with some tourist wanker! Which I'd happily admit to being. After I brought up the Geneva smoking ban which was coming and going at the time, it was actually reversed for a time in Geneva in 2008, he suddenly got animated and very friendly. Nice guy. Impressive shop. No single sales at all, boxes only, which says something about the clientele.
JohnS Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Boxes only? Wow...I can only dream of being a regular client in an establishment like that! Thanks for sharing this experience, Ryan.
Quint Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Excellent series, great find. thoroughly enjoy all the episodes. Makes your mouth water.
ErikB Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Anyone here read The Connoisseur 's Guide to Havanas by Gerard Pere et Fils? I remember devouring it during the nineties. They called the Partagas Shorts an ideal cigar for beginners or ladies, if I remember correctly
ChanceSchmerr Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Ryan, You are lucky to have gotten to enter the humidor - I found them very stand-offish when I visited in January, and I tried to engage in conversation a few times, just to get an exasperated cold shoulder.....even though there was no one else in the store or anything. Wouldn't let me near the glass wall. Mr Gerard wasn't there when I was there, so I can't speak for him personally. I know I look like a tourist wanker, but surely if I'm asking for cigars like Diplomaticos No. 1 and such, I must know a little bit about cigars to begin with..... This, combined with the piss-poor condition of the cigars they showed me, makes me certain never to visit their shop again ever. The dried-out Bolivar Lonsdales and Diplomaticos #1s were truly terrifying. The RA Perfecto RE's that I picked up (they were the only open shop in town to have them at the time) took forever to find, I had to go through boxes and boxes to find a few worth getting amidst many poor boxes - and they had removed the insert from the boxes describing the release, I was really upset! No explanation for removing it either. Compare this to the open and pleasant atmosphere at Gestos, and the 3-hr conversation I had with the owner about cigars and just about everything else, and cigar journey through that walk-in humidor with plenty of surprises of its own (RA Especiales de Allones! ERDM Gran Coronas!) - there is no question who in Geneva will get my business in the future.
CaptainQuintero Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 I know Gerard has some different methods that's for sure, the RA Phoenecios 15 count I picked up there had the inserts removed from the box, internal stick on the lid pulled off and regional second band removed. They didn't want to be seen selling other distributors stock I think. The cigars were sublime luckily!
ToothlessCog Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Thanks for posting this. I don't think I would have ever found it otherwise. Looks like an amazing store!

But the RA Perfectos are Swiss Regionals! No reason for them to take them out then. Should still have them on hand if the customer wants them included, as I did.
