Franko Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Is anybody familiar with this his cigar? Need some help if anybody knows if this is legit or just wrong!! Looks fake for me, used my sourch function but didn't found anything, any info well apriciatted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
tjhernandez34 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 This is the closest thing I can find. The red and gold bands are diplomatic bands for the Spanish royal family. But from the pictures in this auction, there are no Cohiba bands on the cigars, only the diplomatic bands. http://www.cigarauctions.co.uk/cohiba-lanceros-with-king-spain-bands-p-11365.html Sorry, if the link breaks forum rules...
Franko Posted February 10, 2015 Author Posted February 10, 2015 We'll that looks better, my offer is really tempting but still want to heard more on this.. Thx brother...
monkey66 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 It a King of Spain second band. I cannot tell the quality from the photos. I have had a few and they were all lanceros and none had the regular Cohiba bands.
ATGroom Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 As has been said above it's the King of Spain's personal band. These cigars show up at auctions and so on reasonably regularly (a more sceptical man might say "suspiciously regularly"). Would love to hear how you came by them and see photos of the packaging etc.
Guest rob Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I took these photos at El Laguito in November 2012.
Smallclub Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 It's the King of Nigeria's band. You know, the one who needs your help to get the money locked in the bank… 2
Ryan Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I have seen King of Spain bands on Cohibas before. As others have said, not normally alongside regular bands. The box in the original picture looks familar. I can't make it out from the resolution but that hinge might have "Humidif" stamped on it. I've seen a similar box in Cuba before, it had 11 Esplendidos, 10 in a row and 1 lying along the top of the others, like yours, the box also had a humidifying element in it. The box I saw had the diplomatic "Palm Tree" bands on the cigars and were supposed to have been made for the entourage of the Pope Benedict's visit to Cuba in 2012.
Franko Posted February 10, 2015 Author Posted February 10, 2015 We'll thx for all ur help, @smallclub lmao.... That box of lanceros looks better, damn hard to said and deside....

Bartolomeo Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I have seen these pics all over Facebook lately
Laynard Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Are these a special blend? Or just higher quality control considering they are made for royalty?
Franko Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 Are these a special blend? Or just higher quality control considering they are made for royalty? I don't think so, just plus a band... But that's what I want to find out. The lance above on the pic r good, trying to find out if the ones on my original post r ligit?!..

I got a chance to ask the blender at El Laguito this question last year. He has been the only blender at El Laguito for the last 10 years. There are no special blends for King of Spain or diplomatic stuff. Same cigars, different bands.
monkey66 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I believe the old - pre '98 KOS lanceros were Trinidad based, the newer ones Cohiba.

Ryan Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 So the ones in my original post r fakes right? No, I'm not saying that at all. I have no idea. All I meant was that, according to the factory blender, a Cohiba coming from El Laguito is a Cohiba, regardless of what band is on it, it's the same blend. I have a box of 11 esplendidios the same as that, not with the Spanish bands though. Do you have any idea where the cigars in your picture were bought?
Ryan Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Those bands with the Spanish coat of arms are real. That is, I have seen that band design in the banding room of El Laguito. That doesn't prove that the cigars are real though. The cigars are probably real, I have a feeling that box probably came out a side-door somewhere. They look well rolled, the wrappers are matched and the right colour for Cohiba. 1

But I reather pass on this, very tempti tho... Thx for ur info:)
laficion Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Hi all, I have only two problems with your cigars. In my opinion, they have the Cohiba bands and they are not pigtailed. So,as I'm not so sure about them ,I would pass. Guy
Ryan Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 No idea brother. But I reather pass on this, very tempti tho... Thx for ur info:) Sorry, I either didn't realise or forgot that you were considering buying these. In which case, you are right to pass on them. Not knowing if your cigars are real or fake is much worse than knowing you are smoking fake cigars.
