El Presidente Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 I had my first look at the Partagas Serie D Number 6 yesterday. I liked the packaging. Will review over the next 10 days (they need a little rest as they just landed yesterday) no pricing at this time but I will provide when I can. More importantly, who has tried them and your thoughts? Let us know 1
santela Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Ken's not gonna be happy about reviewing these.
Ken Gargett Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Ken's not gonna be happy about reviewing these. spot on! before i read your most accurate note, i looked at the photo. first thought, what sad, rabid, leprous dog laid those. could they, and my apologies for the crassness, look more like turds? second thought - montecristo has its opens. now partagas has its floaters. cuaba would hang its head in shame if anyone had been so cruel as to dub them thus. rob, sadly i am horrendously busy, at least until i see those reviewed by some other poor victim. however, if i am to take the higher road and assist, they better be accompanied by something seriously legendary. otherwise you can simply deposit them in the compost heap - from where i suspect they originally hailed. 4
tomaszgeorge Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Tried one a couple of days ago. I loved it! Like a shorter D4, very spicy with chocolate, leather and earth. A great 35min smoke that is full of flavour. I hope they are all like this. 1
oliverdst Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 I am in a small cigar period so I do hope this will not be overpriced. 20ct box in my dream will be $110-120.

Oh no Ken! Please no! We were commenting on Thursday night at the FoH Sydney (January 2015) gathering how much we value and enjoy your reviews with Rob! They are especially funny! Please someone forward a nice bottle of red to Ken prior to this review to help with the review. Also, did you just catch this amazing Green Bay - Seattle NFL game? Please Ken, don't forget to add your NFL anecdotes too!
PapaDisco Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Those are mighty short. Maybe they should come with one end pre-chewed to match the 'already half smoked' look?
garbandz Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 How many people will see the price on these and say"that"s not so bad",and get them delivered and then find out it is a box of 20? When I first saw the Serie D# 5 I thought,"A half inch shorter and 25 % more expensive? WTF??" These will probably be around $220.00 a box........
Ken Gargett Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Also, did you just catch this amazing Green Bay - Seattle NFL game? Please Ken, don't forget to add your NFL anecdotes too! i think you'll find a heap of these lying around the packers dressing room. they certainly left enough on the field.
JohnS Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 i think you'll find a heap of these lying around the packers dressing room. they certainly left enough on the field. Ah Ken, that brought a big smile to my face!
insaniac24 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Any word on a review of these yet? Gotta grab some more short smokes to see me through to spring...
armmmmm Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Any word on a review of these yet? Gotta grab some more short smokes to see me through to spring... Someone did a review...see link below. http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=117974 Not understanding all the fuss considering the Upmann Half Coronas are loved and are almost identical in size.
insaniac24 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Thanks! Already picking up a box of half coronas off 24:24, was thinking that these sound like a nice counterpoint to the Upmanns, in terms of flavour...
oliverdst Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Someone did a review...see link below. http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=117974 Not understanding all the fuss considering the Upmann Half Coronas are loved and are almost identical in size. From 44 to 50 there is a lot of difference IMO besides, of course, the marca. I am very satisfied with my boxes of HU half coronas but I am looking forward to D6. 1
Tino Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I tried a couple this week with limited expectations and was pleasantly surprised. There's no messing about, they're immediately full bodied and rich on lighting up. Precious little time for development along the cigar so they had to get the blend right. Smoked well for such a young cigar. If it follows the trend of less cigar for more money it will be difficult to justify against a D4 though...
JohnS Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Alex also did a review on His CigarBunch blog site. I agree that this is suited for those who like a quick, short smoke. I personally would gravitate towards a Partagas Serie D No.4, but only due to the vitola, not because of taste reasons. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Q4YboCZU9o
riazp Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Any word on pricing on these here and/or in Havana?
JohnS Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 These are a curiosity, for sure. Any idea if they are available here in Australia?
terrantheman Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 These are not going to be cheap. Prolly around $7-$8 per. 1
nick2021 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 These are not going to be cheap. Prolly around $7-$8 per. Yeah, I don't think they will be cheap either....I guess time will tell....
LordAnubis Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 In the UK they are priced at the same price point as a Siglo II or Bolivar Royal Corona
JohnS Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 In the UK they are priced at the same price point as a Siglo II or Bolivar Royal Corona Well that's not too bad, is it?
