Popular Post LordAnubis
I've been waiting for this day for so long!!!! 70 consecutive days of 13 hour shifts... is finally over (if people live up to their word). So i fly to Accra on Friday morning (GMT+0 time) then on to Dubai where i will land at 06:00 local time. I spend the weekend in Dubai, and then fly to Toronto where i will be staying for a few days before catching the train to Montreal fora few days. After that, catch the train back to Toronto and then fly to Havana to meet up with the FoH Havanfest group where i've been told that i'm the groups designated driver Ahahahaha... im used to driving in Africa and india, so Cuba cna't be any worse can it? Anyway then fly on to London for about 6 days, before flying back home to Perth for 6 days of work in our head office there. Hopefully i can have a quick herf with the legends that are the perth FoH crew.... then fly back to work SO that;s not really my weekend, more my next 6 weeks But my god have i been waiting for this day !!!!! My fly out hasn't been without incident but. Earlier in the week we got word from the charter flight company that they wouldn't be able to run our charter flight because of a jet fuel shortage in Bamako (where the charter originates). Called the government officials and they said they will have two tankers arriving on Wednesday. I enquired this morning and the tankers hadn't evne left Dakar yet!! Epic fail. SO i went straight to the top. Since the government is a 20% owner in the company, i called the President of Mali to ask him what's going on. He said to call back in 20 mins while he went to get the General of the Airforce. Discussions were going as normal and i was asking for some of the Presidential and AIrfoce reserve of jet fuel so we could run our charter. It then started going downhill till eventually Ibrahim spat out "but we are a poor country" and i kind of lost it. I did in fact at one point say "No wonder you're a poor country, you c#$%s are too stupid to fill up a f@#$ing fuel tank!!!!" Not my most dignified hour. Anywa kind of mended a few fences and hung up. 10 minutes later i get a call from our charter company saying the government is giving them the fuel for our plane Now lets hope they deliver and all goes to plan. Enjoy your weekends everyone!!!

JustinThyme
Holy Cow, that a long time to work 13 hour shifts without a break. And here I was complaining because every now and then I get a 40 hour shift (yes thats non stop straight through, not a week) Enjoy your time off! As for me, Ill be in a Gym full of screaming high school girls this weekend! My daughters Volley Ball team made it to state finals. One more match on Saturday and they either leave with a state championship or as I tell my daughter there is no second place, only first of the losers! Maplepie
Train!?! Toronto to Mtl and again by train!? I recommend paying the extra $50 to go by plane or taking an extra 1-2 hours of traffic and spend $20 on a bus ticket. Unless you're going with a bunch of mates and getting drunk off your ass, the train would be untouchable for me! Have a great trip, mate! Hope to see you on the other side of the world! Unless you're going with a bunch of mates and getting drunk off your ass, the train would be untouchable for me! Have a great trip, mate! Hope to see you on the other side of the world! I chose the train because you get the view and because I can get up and walk around. Bus gives me view but limited to seat pretty much. Plane you don't see much of the country. One the way there it's a direct train. On the way back it stops off in Ottowa or something. Maybe it was Quebec City? Either way I get to see another city while sitting in the confit of a train. I'm a huge fan of the Perth to Kalgoorlie train. So much better than the drive, even if the drive is quicker. Thanks for the suggestion though mate. LordAnubis
As -Salaam Alaikum. Just sitting back in Bali stroking my beard ... safe travels Walaikum as salaam brother. I'll be there from 6th to 11th. In working every day so the only time we could possibly meet is a night herf probably on Tuesday or something. I'll have to check the family schedule first though and see if I can fit in a herf. Will let you blokes know closer to the date. Maplepie
Thanks for the suggestion though mate. Of course! Didn't see your side of the argument. I guess I put recommendations as a local, naturally. You kinda want the cross-province experience which seems better since you get to enjoy the scenery... One thing that we over here are probably already jaded of. Hope you enjoy the cold before you bask in the warm!!
