topdiesel
I would start by suggesting not taking medical advice from a cigar forum. If that doesn't work maybe bungee jumping will straighten out the spine and remove any kinks. I had back surgery a year ago after 18 years of back problems. Ice and Ibuprofen help a lot for problems exacerbated by inflammation.
mash
Sorry to hear Rob. 1) 70% of North Americans have back pain at some point. I'd imagine the numbers aren't much different where you are. The figure increases with age. 2) The vast majority of back pain is what is generically referred to as mechanical back pain. It could come from any one of a number of structures (muscles, ligaments, discs etc.) The exact source of the pain is very hard to determine, even with imaging (MRI/CT) 3) The way you hurt your back is classic for mechanical pain. 4) Backs deteriorate with age. This was waiting to happen. 5) If you have pain/numbness/tingling down your leg (not just your buttock), or a sense of weakness in a leg, go see a doctor ASAP 6) If you develop numbness around your saddle area, or have difficulty with bowels/bladder, get seen right away. This is the one biggie you don't want to miss (cauda equina syndrome). 7) If you don't have leg or cauda equina symptoms, which you probably don't, the general principal is keep moving. Motion is lotion. Don't become inactive. Walk and cycle for example. 8) See a good physio. Active therapy is better than passive therapy (massage or chiropractor) for treating back pain and preventing recurrence 9) There are as many different treatment for back pain as there are people willing to take your money. The vast majority are unproven. They may seem to work, but this is likely because the underlying condition is getting better. 10) Limit strenuous activity (lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying) to lighter loads until you feel better. ShortFatHokie
I've been having back issues for around a year now following what sounds like a similar situation only i was moving a damn armoir and not delicious cigars. I stumbled upon a youtube video of a guy explaining some back exercises and stretches, been doing them for about 3 weeks now and i swear to god i feel a major difference. Might not be the best plan immediately following an injury but i think it's definitely a good exercise routine to help facilitate a healthier back in the future. There is also a 12 minute workout on youtube, i consider myself in pretty decent shape but that stuff is hard. Hope this can help somebody Take her easy guys My chiro has recommended Foundation Training for my ailing back. There are some good exercises in there that have helped me a lot!! bresdogsr
Short term ice for the first 24 hours then can use heat. Generally 20 minutes on and 20 off. Anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen or naproxen, Can alternate with acetaminophen. Hang from a chin up bar, lay on your back on the floor and bring your knees slowly up to your chest and hold them there to stretch. Do a modified squat holding on to a desk or a chair keeping your head up and butt out to maintain the proper curvature of the spine. Tighten your core abdominal muscles if having trouble sitting or standing from sitting. Limit your strenuous activity. Hope this helps to get your back on track. earthson
Here's an angle to bring more long and skinnies back to market: These Dukes/Edmundos/109s are just so heavy, shopkeeps cannot safely stock them. More coronas and lonsdales are better for Habanos SA liability!
