^agree with this 100%, the cigar buying community "did" this

the word limited excited people, to me it has a meaningless impact on flavor but because you offer something for a short time and jack the price up people go crazy, i've turned down multiple 1966s that have been offered to me and refuse all other ELs, and i'm not interested in smoking anything larger than a robusto (on the odd occasion will smoke a 52rg) but I had a bhk 56 that I got from a friend and it was difficult to smoke due to the size...I can't grasp how anyone would actively seek these things out and a common misconception with size is that more tobacco = more flavor but that simply isn't the case (gasp!)

some of the ER are good, but like brandon said cost more than regular production, the leaf is the same, it doesn't cost more but the cigars do and everyone has been conditioned to think oh only 15 a stick is a good price where in fact it's double the price of comparably sized cigars

fortunately not many in my circle smoke ELs anymore save for the odd one here and there

I've said it hundreds of times. All of the discontinued cigars were never popular until they became scarce. How many folks were buying coronas and lonsdales BEFORE they were discontinued? How many people seeked out panatelas while they were readily available??? How many were buying La Glorias and El Reys on a regular basis???

Make a cigar in "limited" production, put a second band on it, and dress up the packaging. Instantaneously, people are interested and ready to stand in line for it. I fell for it when ELs came out in 2000... and again when REs came out. Of the REs I own, I've only bitten in vitolas I like to smoke... when the price point is in line with what they should be.

HSA has absolutely zero reasons to stop what they are doing to their entire lineup. How many people do you know (from cigar boards, etc.) are standing in line for 10 count boxes of unproven cigars that are going for 15-50 bucks a stick???

When someone says 20 dollars for one of these "limited" sticks is a "good" price... considering what others are going for.... you know something is way off. I'll just have to be content with the 10-18 year old PCs, TPCs, panatelas, ninfas, laguitos 1/2, etc.... that I paid 100-200 for (boxes of 25 that is, not 10)...

Some time in the future, machine mades and budget smokes will be the only single-banded cigars left. biggrin.png

… can I just add the aforementioned paragraph to my posts in "why I am not a buyer thread?"

And to answer your questions Brandon, yes I was, I know a few (the same group as you), and I will be drumming my fingers, contently, in rhythm with yours…

The price will be thye price and they will be released when they get released.

People will line up to buy them and if they are not priced stupidly (to each's opinion of course) then they will sell out very fast. REGARDLESS of if they are lousy cigars or not. Hype machine at work, but sometimes the hype is real.

I'm seriously thinking of buying for investment since the hype for these is just unreal. For the record, I really loved the few original RA 898 I was lucky enough to try.

15 euro a stick still puts these at almost twice the cost ofa box of Parti 898s and by the time the sSwiss vendors get some that price will be closer to 20 euro a stick

I'd love a box or two but it's gonna be hard to justify for me, especially when the new Diplo RE is prob gonna be around the $500us mark when it lands

Well I am one of the FEW people who have always loved the small & the thin of the habanos world. RG Lonsdales were a staple smoke until gone.

Coronas are a fav but also gone from so many marcas.

I also fell for the hype with the new century and the woke up to the saddness that was/is the yearly DC list. So I also refuse to over pay for LE's, RE's and such and just support the great smokes I love in order to do my part to keep them alive.

Rafeals, Sanchos, SLR, Little Boli's & RA's all great sticks and at a price I can afford to enjoy.

Sure, any LCDH websites will list upcoming releases. Steve Griff also has a blog that lists releases.
