Wow-just smoking the first from a 24 box of Trini Reyes and these are superb!I'm thinking these aren't going to last through the winter.Suggestions please on further short story smokes-I'm already thinking Monte 4 only cause I've tried them once before but concerned about consistency.Thoughts, ideas and opinions highly appreciated for a relative newbie looking to invest in a box or three :) I also bought a box of Por Larranaga Secretos Spain Regionals but those need a lot of rest (2/3 years)

-Monte 5. Suffers less consistency problems.

-PL Secretos I think are ready now.

-Cohiba Maduro 5s are great winter smokes.

-Any Quinteros are great for the money and you can't feel badly about chucking them out halfway before your hands freeze.

-H. Upmann Half Coronas are short for some people but can take me an hour.

-Cohiba Exquisitos I enjoy quite a lot but they are admittingly very expensive.

-ERdM Demi Tasse are bloody brilliant.

-Cuaba Divinos are fantastic when not plugged.

-Vegueros line is worth a little digging into.

-PL line has 3 VERY cheap smokes that you may not finish but won't feel badly about chucking out half way either.

-Guantanamera perhaps. Oh boy. I'm not in the right mind when i'm recommending a guantanamera...

-My favourite one is the H. Upmann Epicures. Bloody brilliant winter smokes those are.

For regionals.

-Fonseca France and Benelux aren't that bad for their rep. Admittingly expensive, though.

-Juan Lopez Minutos i've yet to try. Shame

-Canadian Secretos I hope will come out before the winter so I can grab meself a box of them.

-Andorra has a Panatela which I can't remember but I did detest my two. I maintain this is so that tourists fill up on their 75 quota on a shite 50 cab of smokes like these

Two words. Party Shorts. Move onto RA small club corona (rascc). Avoid monte4 unless hand picked. Up man half coronas are also good winter smoke.

Man,you guys are a wealth of knowledge,I appreciate your opinions so far!!I'm stuck at choosing from the current offering in 12:12 - I see Party Shorts in there but also Monte 2's.I have the Reyes which are good to smoke now (and keep!) but really only can afford one box for now.I've not tried the Party shorts before but seeing they are a big hit

How have the Reyes been for consistency? I've bought a box in '12 that I split with three guys. None of them had anything good to say about them and no one ever suggested another box split.

Are they like Monte's and need to be hand-picked? Or did I just get an unlucky box?

I'm thinking my next-sized buy like the Reyes would be Party Shorts, but that's because of a bad box of Reyes.

Reyes should be hand picked IMO. I'd go with Parti Shorts or RASCC if you can find some

To be the voice of dissent - I've yet to have a Parti Shorts that I even remotely liked...

RASCC

SCDLH El Principe

Boli Coronas Jr.

ERDM Demi Tasse

I really like the following as some short smokes:

  • H Upmann Half Corona
  • ERDM Demi Tasse (for a very small smoke!)
  • Cuaba Divinos (which is the only Cuaba I have enjoyed)
  • The PL Secretos Spanish RE I tried the other week was also a very good smoke

ok. you've mentioned Montecristo No.4 which means we are up to petite corona in size.

Perlas

  • Montecristo No.5 (I love them, smoking a lot)
  • Cohiba Siglo I (pricey but good)
  • RG perlas (kinda edgy - love or hate but need to try)

Minutos: (basically all of them in order to)

  • Partagas Shorts (unbeatable great and consistent crackers, my favorite in this size)
  • Bolivar Corona Juniors (as above without the fav part)
  • RASCC (I like them more with some age on)
  • SCdlH El Principe

Marevas

  • Bolivar Petite corona (wow factor is sky high)
  • Montecristo No4 (delicious but do NOT buy blind)
  • Por Larranaga PC (aged aged aged however some of us approach them fresh and young)
  • Cohiba Siglo II (love them)
  • H.Upmann PC
  • RG PC

...and could still go on...

I do smoke lots of El Rey Del Mundo Demi Tasse. Went through a box this summer. They were only 1.5 yrs old. Hated them fresh fall in love after a year. Though pricey for the size compared to other bigger smokes. And of course Upmann Half corona, PL Montecarlos, panetelas, RG panetelas extra or some small Hoyos...

uhh I love winter biggrin.png

That is what I prefer

- ERDM Demitasse - always have a few boxes on stock

- RASSC

- Fonseca Delicias - I know not much love for Fonseca here, but these are good. Hmm the only one I like.

- HDM Depute with some age on it

- H.Upm. HC

- El Principe

- PL Panetellas or Montecarlos, the Secretos are good as well

- HDM Coronation

Well all right. Basically you have got all the small size cigars listed by different folks, hahaha. You are not further in I guess. But this was clearly going to happen.

I would add my vote for Partagas Shorts. Always a consistent, flavorful smoke. Por Larranaga Petit Coronas are also hard to beat for the price, but they generally need a few years of age before they're prime.

Gentleman, you may smoke

The Party Shorts are OK, IMO, but I'm much more favored to the RASCC. It's the Ramon Allones Mini Me!

Reyes

Montie 4

If you are loving the Reyes, why not buy some more Reyes?

I'm with Capt. If you like the Reyes buy another box, but if you want to try different smokes go with what had been recommended.

I'm new to short smokes/box buying and want some variation in the humi. Interesting to here opines on other shorts, need to get myself some samplers to taste!
