I would have posted this myself if some a-hole did not post it about me (us) already… -LOL How much more can I add? We are in different positions. One of us is a novice and the other experienced. Wh

Many quality current standard production cigars can be had in the $5-8 dollar range while many Limited/Regional and high end cigars can reach into the $25-30+ range (excluding very high end Humidors,

The average cost of my sticks is probably about 6-7 bucks. I stopped buying all "inexpensive" blends and MM's a long time ago (vintage or not). For me, I don't smoke just to have something burning.

This is exactly my approach. My goal (and agreement with the wife) is that anything in my humidor (including ELs and Padron Anniversaries) must average $12 or less. I can get away with it too because I only smoke about 30 sticks (50 in busy years) a year. Therefore, I offset the purchase of expensive sticks with the purchase of cheaper sticks. For instance, if I buy a box of RA 898 REs this year (which I plan to do), my guess is I will need a cab of PLPC or a couple boxes of BPCs to offset that.

Haha, I like it. Great way to justify those exspensive purchases by averaging them out with cheaper ones. My next purchase, Partagas Lusitania's and Parti shorts!

Many wives including mine cannot justify any amount of money for a box of cigars. To her it is just "dried rolled up leaves", lol.

I'm very reductionistic. In fact, I routinely call wine 'spoiled grape juice' (vinegar being spoiled spoiled grape juice). But sometimes a bit of holism is needed. But you just have to do what she does!

Call her lipstick 'resolidifed fats' and see what she says :)

I like the way you think Havana Mike. I'm going to buy a box of Partagas Lusitanias Gran Reserva and 5 boxes of JLP Cremas. That would make it around $12.50 a cigar.

Funny enough, that's just about what mine cost!

As long as the stick is worth the $, reasonably priced or higher price. I don't want to waste my time

like many others smoking poor tobacco and not relaxing proper with my down time.

Well for the box of Gran Cano, you still could have another cab of PLPC....

Well, yes you could....but then you don't have the Gran Cano!

Hmm...

10 bundles of Villaamil peso cigars @ 1 CUC/ bundle...,

so 250 cigars @ 4c each...,

add one box of Punch Serie de Oro @ $500...

Now we have 275 cigars for $510.

Less than $2 each!

Who could complain?

I smoke way too much

to do that math.

I smoke 4 - 5 cigars a day. I buy what I like, and once in a while, I will buy HU majestics or Partagas Arisocratas , to save money.

But it is good I am not married, as 55 boxes per year of buying/smoking ( may, or ) may not be tolerated.

But overall, pedestrian smokes mixed with some re's and aged stuff

suits me just fine.

Well, me, I guess. What's the pleasure in having 250 mediocre cigars, even if their low cost gives you the impression that your 25 pricey cigars are a bit less expensive? This math escapes me.

You mean Partagas Aristocrat, right? If not please tell me where you find cheap Astorias! hungry.gif

Reductio ad absurdem, brother.

I was simply taking this idea to its logical extreme,

hoping it might amuse...

Hmm.. So if I buy enough Quintero Favoritos I can justify buying a box of Cohiba Esplendidos.. Fantastic idea!! :P
