El Presidente Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 You know....I feel like I am passing on my job to you Again another question posed to me this time via e-mail. Assume both from 2013 (HQ). To me it was a no brainer but I am not the last word. Would rather have your opinion to refer to. Let us know your thoughts.
Maplepie Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Been smoking RyJ Shorties since the dawn of my cigar-ness-hood-being. Never had a good one. Consistently got sick off them. Then i got sick of them. Exhibition 4 gets my vote as they are actually palatable for me. Former rates in the 40s-50s for me. Latter are low 70s consistently. Both are not cigars i would buy again.
ksblazer Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Haven't smoked any of the 2013 short churchills, but the 2013 Romeo Ex No.4's that I have are excellent!! After trying the first few. I ordered 2 more boxes of them.
merc Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 I'm curious about this as well. Also, how does the Exhibicion Number 3 stack up to the #4? The only #3 I've had was in Rob's HQ Corona sampler on the Aussie store, are these hard to get hold of?
Habana Mike Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Can't comment. Haven't smoked recent of either though I'g go Ex#4 before the Short. Now if you're asking Wide.....
Habana Mike Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 I'm curious about this as well. Also, how does the Exhibicion Number 3 stack up to the #4? The only #3 I've had was in Rob's HQ Corona sampler on the Aussie store, are these hard to get hold of? Recently picked up a '13 box of Ex#3, heads above the #4's I've had lately. 1
Maplepie Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Recently picked up a '13 box of Ex#3 i've had 3 Exhibition 3s. '06. recent '13s. and old banded unknown dates. I've hated each and every single one. Probably won't try them again. Good thing they're not a very common cigar so it'd be hard to stumble on them. Exhibition 4s aren't too bad in my books. Won't try them again but occasionally receive some from mates. And did you see my recent review of the Exhibition No. 2!?!?! Zoo Exhibition more like it! If they were in a zoo, i'd give them the title of: 'Sentient ****'. But then we'd have to come up with a more gawdawful moniker for the RyJ Shorties.
Skyfall Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 My short Church's in '13 and '12 were all picked by you and did have the good R&J reddish hue and were great, the one 2013 box that didn't, smoked like hell. x The current Ex 4's are great, but it's hard to beat a good oily red clay wrapped Short Church!
SurpriseMVP Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Dont personally care for the short Love the 13 EX4's I've been smoking through this year Mike
dubleuhb Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Enjoy the Ex4, the Short Church not so much and can't say I have ever had a real good one.
MrGTO Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 I'll let you know in 6 months after I get my ex4s out of the locker. Just bought some HQs from the LFTH.
Smallclub Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Enjoy the Ex4, the Short Church not so much and can't say I have ever had a real good one. +1
dowjr1 Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Haven't smoked either one, but I do have some Ex4s in the humi resting...so I will need some time to form a good opinion.
Optic101 Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Haven't had the Short Church but the Ex 4 I have are smoking wonderful. Especially the '12 box. They get my vote. 1
stigmata Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 recent boxes of E4 have been great, recent singles of shorts have been all over the shop. I wonder if habanos picks up the game of one and the other slides and then revereses because they dont have enough great rollers to do them all great... ? the very bottom the pile for me have been the Trinnies.. but watch them do a come back!!!
gr8eman Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Haven't had the Short Church but the Ex 4 I have are smoking wonderful.Especially the '12 box. They get my vote. Thanks...just ordered a box of RyJ Ex4-POU JUN 12. Looking forward to the cherry liquer
CigarAsh Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 I think R&J have been on a roll lately from what I've been smoking. The Ex4s have been excellent and I've had 2 excellent boxes of Short Churchills (out an needing to restock). I've also discovered the Wide Churchills and enjoy those a lot too, if you don't mind the 54 or so ring guage (which I don't). They've all had that burnt cherry sweetness to them that I associate with R&J now. Definitely some of my favorites in my rotation.

Thanks...just ordered a box of RyJ Ex4-POU JUN 12. Looking forward to the cherry liquer You should receive a great box. Same box code here.
gr8eman Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Also broke out a box of San Cristobal de la Habana, la Fuerza, AME SEP 12. Beautiful cigar with lots of creamy smoke, buttery notes and even hints of butterscotch in the 2/3. Rob had listed the El Morro AME DIC 12 as great, but I prefer a larger ring gauge, and after a few weeks they're beautiful.
