ArtemusGordon Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Gents Just got back from Asia and had new bolivar stuff I hadn't had before (belicosos finos and royal coronas) and really loved the bbf especially. What do you guys think is smoking great fresh right now? I do love my petit coronas as well but they are older and I'm out of them. Would you venture to say these should not be purchased blind? (I always think of monte 2 in that respect)
Maplepie Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 both are very good ROTT. (Note. I still have no idea what 'ROTT' stands for. I just use it for 'for smokes fresh')
dicko Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 both are very good ROTT. (Note. I still have no idea what 'ROTT' stands for. I just use it for 'for smokes fresh') FYI "Right off the truck" I find Boli's are delicious fresh 2
earthson Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Bolivar tends to be a brand I age longer than others, but it's also not my most favorite marca. The CJs I've got are more than a year from box code and they still need another year or two. Here's one: YMMV
zmancbr Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Honestly I don't like many bolis ROTT. I haven't dug too deep into lately though, so take that with a grain of salt. But I have a cab of 11 PCs that I don't even wanna touch yet. I'm gonna try and 07 gold medal and see how they are, but I they weren't quite there the last time I had one.
maxcjs0101 Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I once had a 8 month old CJ and they were smelling oh-so-good when it got harsh after the first few puffs. Think i gotta leave it for another few years more.. 1
potpest Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Bolivars are very good fresh. After 3-4 years they become something special imo. Love them, especially the PC's. 2
merc Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Whoops - cigar I was thinking of was Por Larranaga PC. Too much mongrel young for my taste in that one. The Bolivar PC I tried was okay, perhaps a bit young for my taste though. As mentioned previously, will get a couple more and see if I like them any better.

killd1 Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 My Boli RCs from Jun 12 are smoking absolutely beautifully right now. One of the most pleasurable smokes I've experienced on a consistent basis. The thing is I'm afraid to smoke through them because it seems very hard to get your hands on more RCs right now.
saintsmokealot Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Bolivars are very good fresh. After 3-4 years they become something special imo. Love them, especially the PC's. I am a firm believer in this!
hulklogan Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 The Libertadors are incredible now! I hope they come up again in a 12 at 12 and soon
Laxman Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I like some age on my bolivars, that being said have always had luck with Bolivar Petite Coronas ROTT and the BCJ ROTT. Have not tried but heard from a few people the 13 BFF in the dress box are smoking great right now.
earthson Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Decided to check in on my CJs after posting here: still that great coffee and deep, dark earth. Even caught some coconut & mint near the middle for a minute or two. Sadly, the final third is still way tannic and needs more time.
ArtemusGordon Posted July 25, 2014 Author Posted July 25, 2014 Thanks for all your responses and input! I just grabbed a box of CJs from the most recent 12:12 and I will have to smoke one right off the truck to see how it is
ogus Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 This marca frustrates me the most. I wouldn't buy any but samples from an aged collection.

sw15825 Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 For the BBF I have 2009s (cab) that are comming around now and getting real nice. 2008 Inmensas have gotten great with rich tabacco and a sweetness with flavors of cotton candy and marshmallows. The PC and cj seem to taste pretty good with a few years on them. Otherwise I don't care for them with less than 5 years age but havn't smoked alot of recent production. I've never been a big fan of the RC. I need to get some CJs for winter smoking come to think of it.
puromaniac Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 I do like my BRCs and BBFs with a bit of age but was pleasantly surpised by how nicely some BRC tubos I recently picked up are smoking (MUR Oct 13).
ogus Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Why? What's wrong with them? Sent by the Enigma on BlackBerry. In more recent sticks I find all mediocre save the BRC and that had some age
