Well, I enjoy my Music Biographies so it's been an entertaining revelation to read the different viewpoints of the Beach Boys' history with 'I am Brian Wilson' and 'Good Vibrations: My Life as a Beach Boy by Mike Love'. Although impossible to find, and used copies go for $US135 on Amazon, I managed to read about 90% of 'Without You: The Tragic Story of Badfinger by Dan Matovina' through online extracts and patient persistence. I think I will tackle 'Golden Boy: Kim Hughes and the Bad Old Days of Australian Cricket' by Christian Ryan this Christmas Holidays, especially after an entertaining night yesterday explaining to my brother-in-law why former Australian Cricket Captain Michael Clarke was so disliked by other players during his stint with the Australian Cricket team (although Kim Hughes' strained relationships with other prominent players of his era had less to do with his personality). Did much better with the Stephen King Bill Hodges trilogy than this! i loved it from page 1. even more divisive, but a book i absolutely loved and just finished, Hideo Yokoyama's 'Six Four'. one of the most amazing police novels i've ever read. very different to anything. but it divides people into those who love it and those who hate it even more than 1Q84. the problem with it is that most of the characters have six letter names beginning with 'Mik' and the rest five letter names beginning with 'A'. are there seriously such a lack of names in japan?
