Huggogguh Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Hmmm. . I had been close to ordering my first Reyes tonight, but now I'm reconsidering.
SteveGriff Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Bought a box of May 2013 Reyes late last year. First two were harsh and green as Hell... but have since smoothed out nicely. Construction and draw very very good. No qualms here about that box but that's the only Trinidad purchase I've made in over two years, so I can't really give such a firm assessment of the brand like Rob has
tmac77 Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Couldn't agree more Rob. I love the Trinidad line. When it is on it is pure Cacoa, coffee and creme brule with a nice hint of allspice. Sadly this is not always a guarentee as construction issues have been far to frequent. The only Vitola that Has been 100% consistent for me is the Robusto T's which they DISCONTiNueD!!##@$%#^%^.
StingMeadery Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 That's disturbing as I only have old Trinis which are a favourite part of my rotation...love this Marca flavour. Will be disappointing when I run dry. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
fabes Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Glad the box I got last year was good. Had no idea of the inconsistency til I got to FOH. Had my last reyes the other day. guess I'll hold out to see if quality picks up.
Armaniac Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I found a box of 2010 Robusto Ts at a local B&M. It is smoking superbly. I had a mule pick up some Coloniales in June. Box dated January 2014. They're really not smoking well at all. Hopefully a year in the humidor will help.
ogus Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 What was the good box code from the LFTW? And is that a safe buy at this time?
Pedro2486 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 What was the good box code from the LFTW? And is that a safe buy at this time? POU maybe? I'll check when I'm home. I am very happy with that box from LFTW. Dunno if going by the box code is "safe" though. Best bet is to message Rob and ask him to find you one I reckon
Lant63 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 I just purchased two boxes of 24 fundadores for a friend and I. I will report on them as soon as they arrive. I smoke all of my cigars rott or within two day of receiving them to set a benchmark. I am currently loving my monte especiales so I am eager to see how the more expensive fundadores stacks up. ZinZan Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 I've had excellent reyes and this I bought PE stock. Whatever it is thanks rob n the crew for getting it right.
rtrimbath Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 I bought two 12 count boxes of Reyes with a OCT 13 box date. I have one resting and smoked a few from the other. There's nothing wrong with them necessarily, but there's nothing special either. I would definitely go with a different PC if I had to choose again.
Maplepie Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 things you hope to never find in life (and when you do, it's a telltale sign of the apocalypse): Another Star in England's Footy Crest Maple Leafs holding the Stanley Cup Raptors winning whatever they win in the NBA Hell - Any Toronto team winning Snow in Varadero Bad Trinidad cigar - any.

I had 2 boxes from 2010 and after 2 years they became superb.
rtrimbath Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Let them sleep another year and try them again. I had 2 boxes from 2010 and after 2 years they became superb. That sounds like an excellent idea. It would be a lot easier if I had access to a time machine though. I hate the waiting game!
sw15825 Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 That sounds like an excellent idea. It would be a lot easier if I had access to a time machine though. I hate the waiting game!So true. Spend all the money and have to wait to enjoy them. BTW, to me the Reyes is the best Trinidad cigar. .(Of current productions). I have smoked a bunch of boxes of 2008 through 2011 and bought blind, never got a bad box. Imo they are more consistent than most in flavor and construction at least from the years I had.
Pedro2486 Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Agrees. The Reyes I have from last year have fantastic construction, almost veinless oily wrappers and I've not had even a single stick with a bad draw or plug. I've enjoyed them fresh, in fact they are a favourite PC sized smoke, but a couple of years would only improve them. If they last....
SteveGriff Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Got a may 2013 box.... took a good 14 months or so before they become smokeable... flavours were crap around November, now much better. Construction and draw fine
Lant63 Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 One of two boxes from November 2011. Construction and aroma is very very good. 24 count by the way. Sent by telepathic superpowers. -Stogieboy
galtline Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I bought a few boxes from Canada at a local shop.. The reys were from 2011 and they were excellent the colonials were 2013 and are pure crapola. Something about this cigar much like the monte 2 draws me back in only to be disappointed over and over.
