santela Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 There's no conundrum, money money money. Of course if he's some millionaire then nvm. So what was the result?
santela Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 While I do agree that you can't beat smoking a cigar with your buddies over a great conversation, I've got a somewhat different perspective. Sometimes, for me at least, the moment makes the cigar, more so than the cigar makes the moment. In other words, there would've been any number of other cigar choices that would've suited that moment just as well as an RA 898 could have. I'd have taken the $ and bought a couple standout boxes of say Cohiba Siglo VI for instance, and shared one of those with all my friends, along with at least one round of drinks on me. Completely agree, word for word.
Guest rob Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 I've got a full, pristine HQ box - you can tell the buyer in question he can have mine for $2500.
in0gravity Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 So what did he do? Took the Money or kept the box?
potpest Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Take the money. Imagine if you didn't , sparked one up and didn't rate it. Mind you if $2700 was small change to me I'd keep the box
polarbear Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 If I'd just got them and paid less than that, I'd prob take the cash and buy 4 boxes of something else (depends on the profit I would be making though) If is bought them back in 2002 (or whenever) and had aged them myself I would keep em. $2700 ain't worth 10+ years of patience 2
tippexx Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Box. They had been brought along to share and the cost had not been consequencial, there would be honour for both parties in the sale of a part box after the smoke .... but little in the sale of the full .... at any price. 1

CaptainQuintero Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Money if I hadn't already brought the cigars to share with a friend. The offer came too late. They are very nice cigars imo but they aren't special apart from in scarcity.
nem Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Let's say the gentleman in question sells his box of RA 898s for 2700 AUD, how much will it cost for him to acquire cigars that will deliver a comparable amount of satisfaction as the 898s? And we're not just talking about the price of the cigars, but also the opportunity cost of acquiring said cigars.

Mr.T Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Yeah, I'd take the money and put it towards finding an older box of RA 898s or so many other great smokes for that money...
foreese Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Money......time and effort to age would be well rewarded @ 2500 US.
