Looks like its a unanimous "buy blind" type of cigar. Will that stay true for later productions, who knows

Yep i pulled the trigger blind on a box too.

That's how good it was....

Connie A is actually a great smoke for me, and somewhat worth the premium - specially as the premium isn't as big as with other recent releases. This one and the Mag 50 are two of my all round favorit

I'm curious to know how these compare to the Royal Robusto for those who've smoked both? These are right around the same price point as well it seems, but a tad higher.

Include me in the blind buyers. I was going to try one in London last March but plans changed. I missed the boxes but grabbed a sampler of 5 when Rob had them a week or so back. The sampler is en route and I could not resist the HQ boxes least night. So I have bought 30 sticks blind so far.

That's exactly what I did. I bought the 5 pack and I was going to try them. Sounds good, except Rob had live from humidor, I saw the hq boxes and pulled the trigger before I got the 5 pack. We have no will power boys....

If the consensus is a cigar is good, I buy. If I don't like them the first time around, I may like them in a year or two years. Tastes change.

Hmmmmmmm... then what after that? What if it just never develops into your wheelhouse?

(serious questions, by the way. Happened with me and a (smaller) tenner of PLPC. I hated those gits)

Had the chance to sample a couple, thoroughly enjoyed. Picked up a couple boxes for the locker and one for home use sneaky.gif

One thing ive seen with this cigar in a couple examples is size differences. Some of them noticeably fatter than others. I haven't opened many boxes but the ones i have had examples of this. Smaller cigars were not underfilled in terms of soft spots, just smaller. Odd to see several examples in a small sampling. Doesn't change the fact that they are good cigars, just an observation.

If it never comes around I trade off. Truthfully though I like almost everything I smoke. There's some things I'll smoke once every couple of months and others I'll smoke on a weekly basis.

Just picked up a box from the recent LFTH thread. I had a hard time justifying the cost, but I've yet to see a bad review. Plus, Upmann is one of my favorite Marcas. I can't wait to get these in. Definitely a cigar for those special occasions, though.

I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere, but I have 2 questions for any of the more knowledgeable members out there:

1) Are the Connie A going to be a regular production stick for Upmann? (I mean, is that the plan as of now. We all know how Cuba operates)

&

2) Is Habanos SA planning on scrapping the Connie #1? Rob had eluded to this on the LFTH thread... I really hope not!angry.png The Connie #1 is my favorite "morning" or really whenever cigar, when I want a medium bodied stick. Tons of flavor too! I may have to go deep on these if this is indeed true

edit: LFTH not LFTW...

The A is regular production LCDH release, i would imagine it would stay that way such as the royal robusto etc. Dont know about the other

So are all of the LCDH releases part of that particular Marca's regular production then? Huh... I didn't know that. Thank you

HSA does whatever the hell it wants. Look at SCdlH LCDH offerings. Pulled for a cop out reason that basically says, "yea, we know these suck and don't sell, but we won't admit that."

I bought a box of HURR blind after the rave reviews on this site, smoked two and immediately bought four more boxes. They are outstanding. Have yet to sample the A.

Blind buys are never recommended although we almost all do it/done it at one point or another

Yeah, and it's a shame too. They've axed a ton of good sticks. I haven't been in this hobby that long, but I know one of the first cubans that I went in on a box split with(my brother), was a box of Punch SS#1(which was one of my brothers favorites). I've heard other guys talking about some of the LGC vitolas and I almost feel sad that I'll never get to try any. I hope they aren't putting an end to the Upmann Connie 1... that would be almost too much to bare!

I went in blind and got the last box of HQ from the LFTW. Bit of buyers remorse when I sobered up as they are not the cheapest sticks.

You guys have cheared me up now though :-)

Well well..

Just received my box and couldn't help but smoke one only after a days rest... Consensus?

A great cigar. One of the best, if not the best I've smoked in 2014 thus far. A steady medium bodied cigar for me just about all the way through. There was this lovely taste of dried fruit, kind of like apricot, apples, and pear combination; combined with an almond sensation that just kept coming. That's the only way I can really describe it. That lasted into the middle of the second third where some cream came in and really molded the flavors together. No pepper, no spice. Last third, the dried fruit tailed off. Toasty though...Just a very nicely balanced cigar. Final smoking time was around 1hr 50mins.

Bottom line: if this is any testament to what the rest of the box will be like, I will thoroughly be enjoying these. Going to let them rest for a few months before I have another. Box was from Jan 14'.. Box code available if needed.

Fabulous fellas'.. Grab them up.

Very nice Dan! cheers for remembering my thread when you're smoking such an excellent cigar!

curiosity prods me: was it a UPE box code? Seems like that's dominating the market nowadays...

yupp. that's how i felt too. mmmmmmm... i can just taste it again! Much like the Sir Winnies and my standard tipple: Cragganmore 12. perhaps that's why i enjoy it so much :)

After all the feedbacks was excited to sample the A. Picked one up during travel and smoked it the next evening.

Was not excited at all. Need to try some more to see if this was an exception. Stick with the RR.

For those who ordered blind and have had the opportunity to try them, what's the verdict?

Are they worth the price or should just stick with Connie 1?

It is more in line with the SW or RR

I smoke more Connie 1's than any other cigar and given the 1 1's are arguably as good as the 08....keep buying. .

The A will be one of those special cigars that actually remind me of the old HU profile.....

sent while mobile....

I bought three boxes. I was going to keep one and stash away the other two because of the misspelling figuring maybe they would be worth something down the road. However after smoking a few - I'm keeping all three boxes. I was a little hesitant at first because of the ring gauge but I do think some down time would benefit these though.

Wonder if the misspelling was a ploy on the part of HSA so people would snap them up before the typo was corrected.

Not needed, they're getting snapped up on their own merits....peace.gif
