DWC Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 What's the basic flavor profile of a fresh Quai d'Orsay corona? I've tried 'search' but had little luck. Seems to be either love or hate for these. So instead of relying on reviews, I'd rather hear a basic general flavor profile and make up my own mind as to if I want to try it or not. (Yes, I saw Rob pitch his on the last 3rd of the video review. :-) ) Thanks in advance, Dan
CaptainQuintero Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 To me, light toasted tobacco, citrus and whisps if sweetness. Kind of like the cigar equivalent of a lemoncurd chessecake. I love them fresh and aged, aged they take in a custard like flavour to me.

Smallclub Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Balsamic, lightly empyreumatic, with a floral and citrusy note. 2
TM-US Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I get a lot of floral and herbal notes- lavender is one that I remember clearly.
DrunkenMonkey Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Balsamic, lightly empyreumatic, with a floral and citrusy note. You said empyreumatic.
TheDistrictJP Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 I wikipediad it and got burnt maple syrup - is that what you were going for?
Smallclub Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 I wikipediad it and got burnt maple syrup - is that what you were going for? Not exactly. It's related to something that tastes or smells like burnt organic matter, and in french it's often used to evoke tastes/smells of toasted /burned bread, burned wood, etc. Lightly toasted tobacco is the most evident flavour of the Quai d'Orsay line. 1
Smallclub Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 A watered down Partagas TPC. I would say a Partagas Astorias. And very watered down. And only post 2006 Quai d'Orsay ! 2
CUBANO Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 A light very floral and herbal cigar. Try a few singles.
paulF Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 A watered down Partagas TPC. +1 really nice light flavours and nothing complex.

Yep, that's how I interpreted it. First time I saw that word on a cigar forum, well actually first time I saw that word! Très Bien!
DWC Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 Thank you gentlemen. Yes , it sounds like something I'd be interested in trying. I'll pick up some singles soon. and thanks SmallClub for the new word. My lists of must buy/wanna try have got a whole lot longer since I joined here. Thanks, I think.
mk05 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I would say a Partagas Astorias. And very watered down. And only post 2006 Quai d'Orsay ! Definitely post Partagas. If you say Astorias, I will have to try them since you've now advised me, and it is one of the smaller vitolas of Partagas that I have yet to explore. I just remember smoking an '09 and '11 QdO Corona and thinking that it was eerily similar to '70s TPC that I had several times. Very watery, almost like chewing on a sugar cane and celery.
