So I'm having lunch at a cafe/bar just north of Sydney, when I notice they sell a few CC's. Sneaking one in after lunch was too tempting. Only, once I'd finished smoking the thing (thankfully), the owner informs me that I'm not allowed to smoke anywhere in the suburb publicly, not-in nor outside the cafe... he'd let me smoke only because I was downwind, but not again.

Why sell them then? My only rationale is for aesthetic? thoughts?

It seemed like a highly inefficient way to purchase overpriced CC's, not particularly well kept (far too warm), from only a very limited selection.

Seeing the CC's there I was quite chuffed! I was thinking about how this could become my new home away from home... Dream = ripped away.

I once met a Cafe owner in Melbourne who kept a humidor but was not allowed to let you smoke them in his venue.

He told me the main reason he still did it was so he could write his personal cigar collection off on tax

great idea. my wife has a chinese restaurant, i wonder if a big glass humidor would look out of place...

What's new? In Europe you can't smoke in none of the places that sell tobacco products…

You can in England? You can sample a cigar in a lot of places in London now!

You can in Tallinn as well, I have 6 cigar bars in walking distance from my apartment.

In Germany in the most cigar selling shops its allowed to smoke your cigars in the lounges but only non alcoholic drinks are allowed in self service.Allso in my town a lot of bars have outside closed pavillions with heating where you can smoke and drink.True is inside its not allowed or where they serve food.In Romaenia you can smoke all over--its allso Europe and when you star to smoke cigars they change the ashtrays. In a good restaurant in Constanta they have an own humidor and at the ain card there is a cigar card. When you order a cigar they bring it on a special plate with lighter, jet, cutter puncher and ashtray. This is a nice servicce and I have had enjoyed it several times

The average UK citizen doesn't really see themselves as European, it's 'continental europe' then the annoying people across the channel.

The political union was never voted for either which made the feelings worse. the people were given a vote on weather to join a european-wide free trade community. which is fine. but somehow that evolved without national consent into a quasi political union, which unless something incredible happens will be terminated in 2017 (if I remember the date correctly) and a free-trade/economic zone will be negotiated for.

Personally I love the entente cordial, there should be more tunnels and sky rails and hover tubes and such between the UK and France. But I think they are not overly keen on the little colonies of England that are already established in eastern france :D

Well off to Nice soon and swinging along the Rivera to (Genoa) Italy. As I have done in the past you can walk and smoke

in Nice / Monaco / Menton / San Remo / Ventimiglia which is not a problem just like where I live in the states.

Also Spain last year (Barcelona) I could smoke outside where ever and when ever I wanted.

My hotel had a patio / roof where one could just pop on / in grab a lounge chair and smoke until ones heart was content!

Ash trays by the boat load at the hotel but of course this is an outside patio. Feel sorry for mates who can't sit down

at a cafe (Nice.....) order your fav. drink watch the world go by and light up a Rob PSP anything (You know I'll

be bring some of the hand picked stoogies) smokes with me.

In the cafe we meet up at every few months in Parramatta, they have a glass humidor there, we never buy from it but we normally have 2 or 3 cigars throughout the night. Just ask for a take away coffee cup with a bit of water - most staff know this to be code for ashtray.

Go to Cohibar in darling harbour sometimes. They have a range of CCs you can purchase and sit outside on the balcony with a great view. I usually take my own and along as you buy a drink they are fine with it.
