Whether NC or CC I try to wait 30-60 days. When I do not I am disappointed. There are exceptions but I think it largely depends on how quickly they pushed them out the door after rolling and what happens between then and when you get them.

Obviously with CC the long game is often rewarded; however, as Rob says in a video, if it is smoking well , smoke them and do not wait.

Depends on the horoscop. If Jupiter is transiting the 8th House when the box arrives I smoke one immediatly.

Weather permitting anywhere from 5-15 seconds after I put my hands on box from the mail man

Sometimes I can't help myself and I'll fire one up right of the truck..... ....but I tend to agree with the 30 days of rest.......then 3-6 years!

90 days minimum. I already bought 'em & got 'em so what good does an instant sample do? And as far as trying one to see how good they are, we all know that two cigars that have been in the same box can be considerably different, so I will smoke at least 4-5 before I pass judgement on the whole.

There is no linear rule (x days in transit y days resting).

You have to know how the box was shipped (sealed not sealed), its conditions before the shipment, if it's carrying a small boveda inside of it or not and, most important, where it will be stored when it reaches you.

I have 3 small humidors (20-30-50 cigars) where I let them rest for a while in 72%. I check them in a regular basis to see how it is going and to check beetle problems. Some remain there few weeks other few months. Just after that I will see if they are ready to be smoked and try to guess how long I will let them sleep.

Do not forget the sick period. In that case you can let them rest for 6 months and they will still not be ready.

Well, just the way I treat the hobby. No absolutely right or wrong procedure.

I'm in the get in there and try one group, but I buy more than I smoke so a box will last me years whatever I do so why not?

I agree. Same way I go about a new box too.

With the exception of Partagas sd4,I would try anything at least 6 months old soon after arrival,if it was not dried out.

You did not tell us what you have or the box code,so in the absence of adequate input you have your best possible answer.

Since these appears to be your first boxes of CCs,you have a unique opportunity to discover for yourself the mysteries of the boxes you have.Try them at intervals, record your impressions, learn from the experience.

Source some older sticks of the same marcas and compare them to your boxes, and record your impressions,if your current boxes last long enough you can learn how ageing effects cigars.

Keep this idea in mind and post your impressions in a few months, trying to describe a cigar's flavors can increase your ability to enjoy and evaluate what you like..........

I usually wait about 2 months before smoking anything that was shipped. That said, I got some stuff over Xmas that smoked pretty well a week or two after I got them.

I would be interested to know the actual box code and what the date was you tried them, and how many you have smoked.

I have been wanting a box I could smoke young, for me they always need a few years............

Last box I got was MUR Feb 13,nearly gagged they were so young................

I honestly had the same quandary as I have in the last 3 weeks ordered 4 boxes from our kind hosts.

Each box has had to wait out the weekend before arrival because the postal service is a little slower here, and I was concerned as a result that they should rest up for a period.

However I could wait no longer, and smoked the first from a 1 year old HQ box of Boli PC's a couple of nights a go and it was bloody fantastic.

So at least I know now that 2 weeks is enough.

Cheers

Ian

I will sneak one right off the truck, but unless it's fantastic I wait 30.

That being said I think all aged cigars benefit from a year, and sometimes the big ring gauge my need longer. I had a box of 10 year old RyJ Prince of Wales that we're flat for months and didn't really shine till they rested for about 18 month.

I fire one up as I'm signing for the package. Oh wait, no signature is required.

Right off the truck and a few days thereafter and then I leave them for a couple of months at least. I don't know if it's placebo but these policy works for me.

I'm also of the view that 30 days rest can make a big difference. Depending on the marca, some cigars don't greatly benefit from long-term aging, whereas others do!

One ROTT, the rest get at least a couple weeks before I smoke a second. After that, it really depends....some get smoked fresh, some get stashed for long term aging.

I just got a box of prd4's I let them rest for damn near 20 minutes! But in Houston humidity isn't a huge concern in the summer.

I usually wait at least a month. I used to always try one a few days after arrival, but have learned that the month made a world of difference. After smoking the first one I will then decide if they need more time or dive right in and smoke them.

As many here have already stated and as Rob suggests, waiting 30(ish) days will be greatly beneficial to the smoking experience. Obviously there are exceptions, but I broke my normal 3-4 week "resting" period today for an H. Upmann Half Corona because I wanted a quick smoke before dinner and ran into some burn issues that detracted from the experience...don't get me wrong it was still a nice little cigar, I just know that they can be much better.

Yes 30 days is normal but lets face it, when I get a box of something I don't have back up on, and they look and smell fantastic, no shot I can wait a month. I usually sneak one after a week. ...No willpower

same here brother my collection aint that big and I dont have the patience!
