hi all,

apols for sneaking in some shameless 'advertising', but as this is free, i guess not really advertising (needless to say i will not be putting up free links to future ones).

this is the first issue of a new fine wine magazine that i have been working on with the team from the Fine Luxury publication group. they have a series around the globe.

the link is to the entire magazine and you are welcome to share with friends and anyone you think might be interested.

there is also a new facebook page (link is https://www.facebook...381356632103063) - which apparently is needed these days, though i'm still not sure why.

any comments, thoughts, criticisms, queries and so forth, please let me know - on the forum, facebook page or direct PM.

the cover...

pekka nuikki, the man in charge of the group, spent many years as a professional photographer and he does brilliant work. at least, i think so. a shot of his former house in norway in the winter snow is one of the most exquisite photos i have ever seen.

Ken, could we ever impose upon you to blog for us an annual recommendation of which wine futures would be a worthy gamble/value to lay down?

over time, i think we have plenty of posts along those lines. i'm always happy to yack/write/drink wine but the problem for a forum like this is that different wines in different markets and often very different prices.

but up to rob.

Oh sure, the futures thing to begin with is tough to forecast, but it would still be great fun to read your thoughts on what might be a good case to lay down and why.

I like the way this place talks about cigars, and if one small corner of it could extend to drink, we'll so much the better!

we tried with spitbucket.com, currently in limbo.

futures are difficult if you don't actually attend the bordeaux tastings. i have done it but not for a while. and you do need the pricing. these days, so much good wine out there, i'd be forgetting futures unless there really is something you want. no matter cost etc.

Hi Ken the writing is what your best at paired with your extensive knowledge (along with your excellent taste in music:-))

Keep us informed on how it travels ,plus you know a top class printer if you ever need one (who also has good musical taste ) albeit a bit late LOL

Cheers

hi ken, best if luck with this and right up my street. I tried to read it and as I am doing so on an android smartphone I couldn't as there is a compatibility issue with flash player. I will have to try from my work PC later.

Also it will be an interesting 2013 en primeur campaign with 2013 being the worst vintage in recent memory and Parker not declaring until after the prices are released. I think there will be a few surprises but the consensus across the industry seems to suggest that the wine investor should stay clear. Especially as many 2010's can now be picked up below the en primeur price, even though that year is widely recognised as a very good vintage. I think the Bordeaux marketing machine will have to eat some humble pie this time round. What do you think?

hi graham, apols for the delay.

hope you got into the mag if any further issues, please let me know.

i think that the en primeur campaign has become far less important of late. too many great years and so many wines available down the track. you point re the 2010's is spot on. and if a great year can be nabbed below the en primeur price, where does that leave lesser years.

also, so many other wines/regions doing the same thing now. so options expand.

i would not like to have to make a living selling '13's en primeur.

Just got into the mag on my office PC. Bloody hell Ken - that is awesome! And a fantastic line-up of contributors - quite a coup to get so many heavy weights. I will really look forward to reading it. Congratulations in advance, I am sure it will be a success. But no doubt a lot of blood sweat and tears went into it.
