dangolf18 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I just decided to purchase a box. Curious how they are smoking for people. I'm a big fan of Bolivar regional releases in general. My favorites have been the Colosales and Especiales No.2 from Germany. Thanks!
Maplepie Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Especiales no. 2 is the only RE from Bolivar i've ever considered getting more of. all the others were a disappointment in comparison to even a young 3YO Corona Gigantes. unless i come across some Bolivar Double Coronas (fingers crossed as tight can be), i don't think i'll ever buy a box of bolivar REs again besides, with every box of hugely expensive REs, it's money i'm not putting towards the lonsdales

Maplepie Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Have you tried the boli china RE you mean the asia pacifico dan's talking about?
polarbear Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 you mean the asia pacifico dan's talking about? I think China got its own Boli RE It came in a fancy jar if I recall correctly
Maplepie Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I think China got its own Boli RE It came in a fancy jar if I recall correctly aye. didn't know the Distingos were China mrket! specifically! i always assumed when people said China RE, they were talking about Asia Pacifico. that sure taught me a lesson! but heck no! jars i always stay away from. again: money i could be putting towards some bolivar CGs or Lonsdales. however, if a few collectors i know would sell singles, i'd almost jump on these immediately. i mean they have to be good! after all: what's Habanos SA gonna do? disappoint their mighty Chinese overlords?
Orion21 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 One of my favorite cigars Dan. They are stellar!

Maplepie Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 dan! ever tried the Bolivar prezes? wondering if they'd be anything that'd match the DE RE as i've never disliked a swiss cigar
dangolf18 Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 Nope. I tried the Simones which was very good.
Stanislaw Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 The boli shorts are smoking real well but be sure and take your time and they will reward you (almost) every time...
fingerburner Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Have smoked multiple singles over the years - admittedly none in the last 6 months or so, but they have all been very enjoyable. Don't really dig the short format otherwise I would've sprung for a box.
Lotusguy Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Really like them - even though I hate the vitola. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Orion21 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 The blend is spot on. Its similar to the Simones, but more rustic and has a lot of potential to continue to improve. PCC just does RE right!
Stogieninja Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I'm a big fan. Only smoked a few but they we're quite nice.
Habana Mike Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I've smoked a number of these over the past couple of years and generally enjoy them. Just put one down and, while quite good, am leaving the remainder for a deep sleep. Still a little rough around the edges but with what I think is great potential down the road.
elam370 Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Short Bolis are fantastic. A bit lithium-y and very very Bolivar. Has a good pepper kick to it and has the nice somewhat sweet cuban tobacco taste. Is it worth the price for the box? Eh, I'd pass, I'd rather get some LCDH releases like the Upmanns or the Allones.
