Blue is definitely going to be fun to watch grow up. I hope you keep posting for us!

Getting a pic of our pooch Lance is tricky unless you settle for the ones where his nose is buried in the ground.

Yeah, he likes the kitties too.

Those are my dogs.

Toby on the left is 5 years old. Great dog. Tons of energy. Not a great hunter but he makes up for it by covering about 100 miles a day criscrossing fields and trees.

Bear on the right is 12 years old. Still hunts all day. Retrieves some of the worst cattails where most dogs refuse to go in.

I feed them Royal Canin Labrador 30. Their consumption to excretion ratio isn't bad at all. Good energy all the time. Very good shape overall. They get two cups in the morning and two in the evening, each.

Bear is 75lbs (used to be 85 but as he got older I cut him down to help on his hips. Never had a hip issue but he was so muscular I was concerned. Want him to live forever.)

Toby is 65lbs, lean and fast as heck.

Awesome

OMG Lisa he is just beautiful....makes me want to have one but between my birds and fish to look after might be a stretch. I suppose i could also bring the dog to work and he or she could be the mascot for FOH

Just got to see if I can convince Rob to let me keep the dog next to me....only time will tell

In 1983 I graduated from The Ontario College of Art's graphic design program. In the last months of the 4 years, we all took our portfolios around to the design firms looking for jobs. At one company, the art director sat with her large chocolate lab under her glass table.

When I got home, my mom asked, "So, how did it go?".

I told her the art director thought it was ok the dog thought it sucked.

True story.

Here's an update showing what Blue the Siver Lab looks like today. He is more than double the size he was at the end of December when we brought him home. He is also calmer and does not chew or bite so much any more.

This week Blue turned 6 months old and on Thursday he heads over to the Blue Mountain Vet Hospital to say goodbye to his only prized possessions. And it is a good thing. The neighbors across the street, for some reason did not spay their ugly mutt and she is old and quite the ****.

Here is a progress shot for his size chart.

Sometimes slutty ******* are good, when you need that kinda thing.

Any to anyone(dog) who is into that kind of thing, get neutered. It is a public service to the welfare payers.

Gorgeous pup, Lisa! It's fun watching them grow up. The puppy stage is always wicked cute, but they can be little terrors quite often. They're not quite as cute when they grow up (nothing's as cute as a puppy, eh?) but I think the improved behavior of a trained dog outweighs the cuteness level of a puppy. And that's why we take so many pictures of puppies, right? That way we can remember how cute they were and conveniently forget the naughtiness. smile.png LOL

Remington, our 20 month old Weimaraner, has been the source of many "OMG! Are you friggin' kidding me?" moments, but there have been far, far, far more "Wow! Was a wicked awesome pooch!" moments. Remy's been a part of the family for less than 2 years. I'm looking forward to many, many, many more years with this great dog. He's mah boy!

Remy at 8 weeks old - the day after we brought him home from the breeder in Montana. Not even 10lbs yet:

About a week after we brought him home there was a dog meet/competition at the local Circle of Friends Humane Society. Remy won the "cutest" category. He was the only puppy there. It was like shooting fish in a barrel, though he did get a little cold:

Remy at 7 1/2 months:

Remy at 1 year old (and with our two 10 year old beagles, Bauer and Daisy) chewing on some ice cubes:

Out in the field looking for some pheasants last season (no luck - pretty sure all of the pheasants in North Dakota ran away. LOL)

This was a few weeks ago - trying to get Remy to look at the wifey for a good picture, but he decided he wanted to give kissies instead. A big 75lbs now.

Remy_GT_12-vi.jpg

Remy packed on a few winter chub pounds (hey, who doesn't?), but now that it's nicer out (i.e. no snow 3ft deep) he's spending more time running around in the backyard chasing birds. He was out there for 3 hours on Saturday, just running around looking for the next critter to come along. He's definitely one who likes to be outdoors... as long as it's not sub-zero. smile.png

I doubt we'll ever get him fixed. The breeder suggested not getting him fixed until at least 18 months since some of the research she had done indicated that early neutering could lead to health problems down the road (hormones related to growth plates and whatnot, dogs continue growing well beyond that 6 month stage, etc.) and none of my research showed any negative side effects one way or the other from a hunting perspective, so I figured why lop 'em off? He hasn't done anything (yet) that makes me think we'd need to go that route, so hopefully he'll be able to swing away for many long and happy years.

Dogs are awesome.

Let me know if you want to go hunting on some decent land G. We can either go Lisbon area or west of Bismarck. I can hunt land either place.

Might very well take you up on that, Jamie. The only sign of pheasant we saw last year was one roadkill and then one pile of feathers in a field (must have been a coyote's dinner). We only made it out once during pheasant season before Remy was put on the DL (non-hunting related surgery on his neck), but from what I heard from some of the farmers living in that area (out near Clifford), there simply wasn't much of a population last year at all. Buttloads of geese and ducks, but no pheasants.

Gorgeous doggie G!! See how folks think my Blue is a Weimraner but you can clearly see the difference between our dogs here. The silver lab does not have the sleek sheen.

I think the only things Blue could successfully hunt for are sticks, deer poop and anything I am eating.

When you first posted pics of Blue I thought maybe he was a Weim. They looked a lot more similar to one another when they were babies. Blue eyes and color were very similar. Blue definitely looks like a lab now. :)

Remy's favorite part of pheasant hunting was the deer poop we came across everywhere. I think he thought they were little deer niblets. LOL

Cheers,

Greg
