Love the picture -

one of the most expensive lighters and - a Quintero jester.gif

cheers, Alex

Alex - You're right, it sure looks funny, but it was the stuff I bought at Pitter's in Cologne that day .... photog.gif

Here's an "arranged" picture of the ST Dupont, my "Sunday" lighter, a classic line ST D I hardly ever use with dual soft flame next to some more "suitable" sticks ... just to put things right again .... tongue.png

Cheers !

z-plus zippo butane inserts, about $10 each, either single or double torch or a soft flame choice, you can put them into any zippo case of your choice

You've had better luck than me. Any Colibri lighter I've bought bit the dust quickly. Swore I'd never touch one again years ago.

S.T. Dupont Defi Extreme Beauty!

Danke Alex -

bought the classic ST D a few years back in Hamburg at Duske & Duske as they had a good offer and they installed the dual flame right away, then had it engraved, put it back in the box and, again, I hardly use it except for rare occasions - prefer the Defi by now.

As for the Favoritos - I love them ok.gif

I have been using the Defi Extreme for few months now and I couldn't be more happy with it. As Nino said above it's reliable, looks great and has a huge tank. I have been lighting cigars with it on the deck of an open sea yacht with winds up to 20m/s almost as comfortably as I was sitting in my living room :-)

Hi Nino, are you still buying Dupont refills or did you buy one of the aluminum connectors? I highly recommend the connector.

Well Murphy's Law can be a *****. My lighter that was giving me no hassle or problems started acting up today. Wouldn't stay lit and sounded like butane was leaking after I closed it.

I still have one of the ST D refills left, plus several German refills that have an ST D connector on one side that fits the classic line models I have. Those are good and cheaper than the original ST D refills.

Does anyone have a source for the ALU connectors?

Have used a Prometheus with some luck for 4 years or so - just picked up a Dupont Xtend - so far very nice operation and feel - top can get hot - went with the made in France version - gut preference versus empirical evidence. Hear both are good -

Same with me bro. No matter how expensive or fancy the lighter, one of two things happen with me LOL either I loose it or it stops working. After figuring I've spent about enough on lighters as on a few boxes of cigars, I lowered my standard... big time. For the last year or so, this is as nice as it gets. They always work and if I loose them, who cares. 100 boxes for less than $5.00

To each their own right? However, some of you have some super cool and neat lighters.

Z-plus zippo insert has served me well for two years now - and it is cheap

x2. I like it because I can use my old sentimental Zippo 35 years later to still light my smokes.

When I was in Berlin, I was able to pick up a large Dupont gas refil (at the KaDeWe). Unfortunately can't find it online or in any U.S. shops.

It's true that xikar's warranty service is great. I know that because I've sent my xikar lighter back to them 4 times. It's true they've always replaced it, but... I've had to send it back 4 times.

This...

As I posted on a previous thread regarding Xikar, quality seems to have dropped drastically as each replacement's half-life was a fraction of its predecessor.

You can find the adapters on eBay. I would not get one for a DuPont as I hear they're a bit finicky with fuel.

I've had pretty good luck with my xikar so far- it's been over a year and countless refills. A friend of mine has gone through four in less time.

I like the ST Dupont defi extreme big fuel tank, rugged. That being said, I just got a bunch of ST Dupont Ligne 2s and a Dunhill Rollagas, all soft flame.

I have to admit I have tried many brands and variation and Jetline quad and triple lighters have held up better than the more expensive brands. I have one jetline triple that is 5 years old and is still as good as day one!

Xikar would be my number 2 choice.

I've gone through I don't know how many. Finally decided to pull the trigger on a Dupont Maxijet, and it never fails to light with the first try. Love it and wish I had gotten one many years ago.

I love my Xikar Axia. Haven't had to send it in yet, but when I do I'm glad it will be replaced / repaired for life.
