Jnaube Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 This topic may come as an oxymoron in this forum but Still, I wonder. I've been sick for a couple of days and realised over the course of the weekend that I almost spent a week without lighting up one stogie... Those who know me know tat it's very long... How long was you most recent cigar break?
sharks Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Longest was 3 weeks, work and sickness the main cause. I must admit my palate was the better for it, refreshed!
finecigar Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 For me the longest break was around a month long, when I was sick and in hospital and uninterested in smoking at that time due to family/health issues. I found it quite enjoyable when I lit one up after that long break, which happened to be a CGR. I try not to smoke every single day as I find it really wears out my appeal to cigars and its good for me to wait few days to cleanse the pallete from time to time. I never can understand when people say they smoke 5-10+ cigars a day, to me I find it almost a waste to those cigars and over enjoying the experience, almost making the flavors to blend together throughout the day. Just IMO.
Geo17pip Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Just recently with the spring here I started smoking more. During the winter I went for a break because it was just too cold out and with work I didn't have time. Id say about a good 2-3 months break with maybe one cigar. Now that its nice out i've been fishing and burning one here and there. Recently just had my first couple 2011 JL no 1 and I liked them a lot. But yeah being sick its good to take a break, because then its just a waste of a really good cigar
dicko Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I play it by ear, or mouth rather. I've gone 2 weeks during winter with colds, weather etc but I'll have a 3 or 4 day break most times between smokes now. I've started having several in a session now an really making it a big smoking day. Then I can enjoy comparing flavours etc
tmac77 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I Had a cold earlier in the year and had to go almost 12 hours without a cigar.
investandprosper Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Since moving from Hawaii to Chicago, I've gone from 1-2 a day to 1-2 a week. Seems like a cigar break to me
jimb2u Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I think that the longest break I have taken in the last decade has been 10 days due to illness...and that first cigar REALLY tasted great
Cohiba007 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I usually take a break at bedtime that lasts all the way until morning.
socapots Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Longest was about a month during the winters. Althoug some months seemed longer.
nikesupremedunk Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Also been sick and with allergies kicking in it's been about 5 days for me. Actually don't remember the longest I've gone without, but probably not more than a week. I'm going to see if my next one tastes better than usual.
Habano Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Look on the bright side. It just means that many more days of age on the cigar or cigars you might be smoking.
Jnaube Posted May 10, 2013 Author Posted May 10, 2013 A week since yesterday. Same here... This is getting long

polarbear Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I work in the offshore oil industry Got a call up short notice for a job and forgot to pack any cigars in the rush I was cigar-less for 6 weeks :-(
riazp Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 If I recall, when my wife left me last year, I think i went almost two months without smoking a cigar, i just lost total interest...
Dbone Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 For reasons beyond my control I was on the wagon for a bit over 6 weeks. That's the longest, because, I was forced to do so. But last weekend I'm off and enjoyed an '09 PSP P2, perfection. Wouldn't it have sucked if my first cigar back was a dud? Anyway, maybe a little reset from time to time is called for.
