Skyfall, are those your personal pics? Hope you're nowhere near there...

No , not personal pics, but many friends in the area.

Is this being classified as an accident or was there some foul play?

Accident...as of now

****, I've been out and about all day and this is the first I've heard of it. Terrible terrible news. Very sad for those affected.

Our thoughts and prayers for all those affected.

Lets hope this is a tragic accident and not anything more sinister

As with the Boston tragedy I think the main stream media need to take a deep breath,a little less speculation and a little more factual information ,in a nut shell whenever there is a incident and or tragedy, the media industry go into a giant feeding frenzy ,where has decent journalism gone ,it has been missing for some time now .

But as. Always our thoughts and prayers are with those affected

This has been a very disturbing week for American soil. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected

Damn, thoughts and prayers to all the families of the victims.

Good Lord. Prayers are with those affected. May God grant healing, physical and otherwise, to the good people of Texas. Any reliable charity doing work on the ground?

Agree. Terrible tragedy but I wish those reporting the news would take more responsibility with what they report and speculate on. Yesterday's news made mention of at least 70 dead and possibly hundreds. Today's news confirms 15 deaths ? Good news obviously that fewer people were killed but where the hell did they get the original numbers from ????

New York Post is saying there's a 50-50 chance it was an accident. But after all the news screw ups yesterday, who can trust any of these guys.

The 70 number was from a EMS leader and was an estimate when all is said and done. Perhaps not the most responsible comment but this is a fairly small town and people are surely in deep shock and confusion.

Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately, in this case), the media in recent years tends to blow numbers way out of proportions, to grab and hook consumers.

When we first got the wire feeds of the news last night / early this morning, the number quoted were "between 5 to 15 killed in Texas fertilizer plant explosion".

The media is getting away from itself lately.

Now, that said....

It's a scary and tragic event. The good thing appears that the location of the plant was far enough away from directly being too close from more densely packed residential areas, or else it could have been even worse.

Definitely condolences and best wishes to all affected.

Well said, Steve.

I think many of these recent events will have the media needing to do a widespread re-evaluation of itself (CBC here in Canada is already talking about that, with regards to CNN and SkyNews reports that came out following the tragic Boston event).

I hope that the number is much less. the new 5-15 number is now based on confirmed deaths, according to people in the area, the search to uncover bodies is far from over.

Absolutely, and granted. We were being reported the 5-15 number at 7am our time here. So, yeah, things could still unfortunately change drastically. But, either way, fingers crossed for your Texan brethren.

I just saw that explosion. Basically burning dynamite right? Wow that could have been worse. I am guessing they just told everyone to evacuate the minute something caught on fire.

Wow that is pretty crazy. Video is pretty scary, represents a nice commentary on people today I think though. "Oh look, An unfolding disaster, I'll set aside my safety and those around me and neglect any possibility of helping and I'll just take out my phone and stand around recording this historic event, Because today that's what a good samaritan does."

Hope things get organized and improve quickly over there.
