Cigar smoking time... how long?

Today Matthew and I smoked probably the biggest cigars ever for us, RA Super Ramon RE Canada. They were just fantastic!

Sometimes I read here how you guys take 2 hours to smoke a cigar. We have never taken this long. Are we vacuum cleaners or what?

Robusto's usually last about an hour; double corona's about two hours. I almost always smoke inside, so I think that may have something to do with it.

Love the Super Ramon...usually takes me about at least 2 hours to smoke it.

That would take me a couple of hours at least!

A robusto is about 1 to 1:15 hrs for me. Any faster than that and flavours start to deteriorate.

We smoked them inside, in about 1.5 hours, if that. But we did leave about 2 inches.

If you smoke them reallllly slooow, don't they go out and have a weird burn?

I always think I smoke quite fast - robusto or corona gorda are both about an hour, 2 for a DC. I've only had one rodolfo (a muralla) and it was a 2.5 hour cigar.

Longest smoking time has to be a couple of the bigger Reynaldo's over 3 hours...

i dont time my cigars with a stopwatch...i think in terms of a hockey game.

Love this way of timing cigars. Very Canadian. Matthew will love this!

I think the longest I smoked was around 2.5 hours for a double corona. Robusto for me is 60-75 minutes, PC is about 50-60 minutes, CG varied from 70-90 minutes, and about 90 minutes for a pyramid. I do notice the cigars seem to burn a little faster when I'm smoking outdoors, maybe the wind kind of accelerates the burn.

Also, I like smoking shorter sticks outdoors because for some reason I can't seem to sit outside for 2 hours. PC is my favorite to smoke on a summer night. I love smoking longer cigars indoors at b&m's because I want to get my $'s worth. I don't smoke anything that takes under an hour and half to smoke, unless I'm smoking another one a few minutes after.

I smoke far too fast (35-40 mins for a petit corona, 1 hour for a robusto) and always find myself having to slow down. I think it does make a difference to the flavour.

Minutos/PC is about 50 min to an hour for me

CG/Robustos about 1h30m

Pyramides close about 1h45-2hrs

Rarely smoke anything bigger but then thats 2hrs plus.

I like what Shlomo said (for once LOL) The beauty of cigars is that you can take your time and get lost in the cigar. there is no hurry to power through it, its not a cigarette. But I guess some just smoke faster than others naturally. To each their own!

I am about 1/2 to 2/3rd of the times mentioned here. A PC is about 30-45min, a robusto is 45-60min and a lonsdale is around 60min.

Giant ring gauge cigars just don't do it for me...anything over 48 is huge, for me normal is around 4042.

Actually I love smaller & thinner cigars as I can have 2 different sticks/flavors in the time other take to work on one of the tree limb size cigars that are popular now days

Everybody smokes at different speeds, but the slower the better for the flavours. Otherwise, you are just burning tobacco. I smoke slowly. After all, what's the rush?

Double corona 2.5 hours for me. Robusto 1.5 hours, sometimes more. Have not had a Super Allones yet, but Muralla takes me a full 2 hours, sometimes a tad more.

Heck a half corona takes me a full hour and usually a little more.

_{Meh, just another thing that comes down to personal preference and routine...For the most part I am a fast smoker, just the way it is....Sometimes however, I do take more time to smoke the same cigar....Super Ramon is a big cigar....I could easily smoke it in 1:15 or stretch it out to 1:30....}

If I have a well rolled Robusto it will take me about an hour 15 to smoke it. I have had cigars like the BHK 52 that were so lightly packed that they were gone in 50 minutes (so sad).

I have had PC's lasted as long as an hour 20 and an MGE last an hour. It mostly depends on how the cigar is rolled.

A PC last 1 20? wow. I really took my time outside reading yesterday with a Bolivar Royal Corona. Stretched it out to about 1 hr 10 min.

First of all I realized I am a double puffer LOL. Second of all I froze my hand.

I also realized that Matthew and I both smoke at the same rate, so that's just the way it is. I would have finished that puppy in about 50 minutes.

I smoked a RA Gigantes on the weekend and that took me just over 2 hours - longer than usual for me. I've smoked Lusitanias in just over an hour before. I think it depends on my mood and the social setting as to how quickly i Smoke. Also the draw of the cigar makes a difference.

A lot has to do with the construction and the percent moisture content of the cigar. Additionally, I gauge my smoking by amount of smoke visually and the intensity of the cigar. Bland cigars I smoke faster, attempting to coax a more robust taste.

Over the last 15 years I have begun to smoke more rapidly. This could be due to the fact that I stopped listening to 'professional' opinions on how to smoke cigars and followed my own tastes. I like dryer cigars that smoke quicker, which is in some way offset by the fact that I enjoy a well packed cigar, with robust taste and abundant smoke, which will smoke slower.

A DC, when I smoke them, is a two to three hour smoke for me. I can smoke a PC in 45 to 60 minutes depending on construction and water content.

If I am chatting I smoke more slowly. If I am driving I smoke more rapidly. There are many factors that control my rate of smoke and the cigar and my surroundings have a lot to do with it.

I can't remember where I read or heard it before. But I believe a general estimation of about 10 to 15 minutes per inch of cigar smoked, obviously dependent on ring gauge/format and whatnot, to determine if it's within a good window of smoking time / frequency of draws, etc.

I'm on the faster end of the spectrum. Life is busy. Plus, I could take 3 days to get through a PC, I'm still not picking up boysenberries and anise.

I used to smoke clubs on the way to work which was at least an hour drive.

My smoking time for that tiny cigar was at minimum 45 mins.

But then I'd smoke a D4 while workingon the boat and it would last 30-40min!

Much depends on your state of mind, the wind, or what Snooky is wearing that day.

I did nurse every nuance out of a Boli BF once it lasted 2 hours. Two hours of bliss.

Just clocked my first Super Ramon at 2:40: 1/2 inside, 1/2 out - it's a big cigar!

Didn't really get much ouf of the first 1/3, light toast and cedar perhaps. Still lighter side of medium through the second third but the final third kicked in nicely. Milk chocolate, orange peel, cream and leather.

Rich thick and long-lasting finish. I've got a handful more so may try another one soon and leave the rest down for a while.
