I suppose this is an extension of the "Dining...lost the plot" thread moon.gif

Have received the Electricity bill for my house. We have a pool, run aircon infrequently.

4 people living in the house.

We are charged per quarter (3 months).

$1410 AUD.

Increase over the same period last year : 22%

Increase over the same period 2 years ago: 38%.

Australia has more coal than almost any country on earth. We have endless sunshine. We export Uranium.

Let us know your 3 monthly bill. I assume we are being royally screwed tantrum.gif

Depends on the time of year, Rob.

Four bipeds and two large quadrupeds, 2700 square feet. We do live in a fairly mild climate with hot, dry summers and winter certainly does not increase our electric bill since natural gas gets the majority of the attention for heat.

So during summer months, we average about $510 USD during the three warmest months (June -August). Still, hopefully without stepping over the political boundary, it COULD be much lower if we would fully utilize the abundant natural resources within our own borders.

Cheers,

Joe

My last bill which I thought was high $450 really compared with yo s not .

No pool but with the horror summer with have had this year, two air cons running more or less 24/7

But in answer too your question Rob ,yes I think we are getting ripped off here (OZ) on just about everything

Peak summer with AC running all of the time it usually runs about $350-$400 per month. Fall/Winter/Spring runs between $90-$150, plus another $100 for gas heating during the winter. We have one of the largest nuclear power plants in the world 50 miles outside of Phoenix, but we are nickled and dimed by fees and taxes. It always comes back to increased cost to deliver the energy to you and that normally comes from increased regulation and taxation.

But I normally just BLAME CANADA, BLAME CANADA!!!

Mine is about $200 to $300 a month, so for 3 months under $1,000 USD, it's stayed pretty consistent but surely isn't any joy to pay. Have 3 air cons at 5,300 sq ft.

Fine dining is a joke in America, too. Especially with the tip

About $370 aussie dollars (£250)

per quarter for me...

Gas is more expensive.

What is the average salary in oz?

Posted

Just received ours. Just the two of us, no excessive Aircon use or anything like that, cost was $400.

About 200 usd/3 months. 100 square meters, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. 4 tvs and pc running a lot of the time and some other crap as well.

Pay about 250 usd/3 months for water as well.

2 adults 2 children under 5. 1300 sq ft home our bimonthly bill during peak with AC is about 220 CAD. Winter about 160.

1 TV . 90 gal marine fish tank. Main eaters of power I think.

Around the $450 mark here per quarter.

But have not received the last 2 bills due to issues their end. You can not imagine how fustrating it is to try and get a bill out of these wankers

Posted

Ours would add up to about $390 US dollars, maybe a bit more in the dead of summer with the AC. Four people in the house, 4,000sq/ft, at least one person in the house at all times. I've been pretty happy with our rates, haven't changed much over the last 5 yrs.

Just recieved our bill... just over $2000 for the quarter for 3 people surprised.gif

Mind you.. that was with ducted air con running 24/7.

2 People, Sydney NSW.......moderate use house air-conditioning, also a/c gym (used infrequently innocent.gif ), continuous a/c & de/humidification & fans to wine/ cigar cellar, heated spa (aka: hot tub, whirlpool) 24/7, swimming pool. Off-peak hot water, no gas. Last Bill $1,573 for 92 days.....and we are on a 13% usage discount plan. Yep.....screwed.

855 CAD for the last three months here in Montreal. These are typically the worst as we use electricity for heating during the cold winter months. 2,500 sq ft with 2 adults & 2 kids. Roughly 22 % increase year over year. Monthly average over a full year is approximately 220 CAD.

Cheers,

This is going to make you all sick.

For three months my bill is $96 or so. Almost always $30-$33 a month.

For gas the peak was around $98 in the dead of winter.

We have some of the cheapest electricity and gas costs in the nation.

I used to get power bill of approx $320 per quarter till I installed a 5 kw solar power system--my last "bill" was $620 CREDIT!

Glad I got in while the feed in tarrif was 31 cents-----it used to be 64 cents

Anyway thats about a $600 turnaround per quarter ie 300 per quarter bill plus 300 credit.

Winter is coming shorter days and cloudier skies, hopefully will still be a zero bill with some credit will keep you posted.

one person - away half the time, no pool. $440 a quarter or so. no happy.

dumped origin as they hit me with $700plus for some quarters. i refused to pay - it was an obvious stuff up. eventually i got a note from them telling me about the good news and that they would be reduing my bill to what it should havebeen. no apology.

then they rang me to find out why i left them. i think the poor woman on the end of the phone was in no doubt where i placed origin in the scheme of things with hitler, stalin etc.

but this new lot, agl, prices skyrocketing.

Visual proof that here in OZ we are getting screwed

Posted

Wow. Our 'lectric bill varies obviously with the season.

The summer months here, say mid-June to mid-September can easily be 200.00 - 250.00 USD a month for two people/two dogs. No pool unless you count the bathtubs. lol3.gif

We use an averaging plan which helps.

Posted

Bi monthly between 800-1000 USD, but that's relatively high here.

No pool; chiller airconditioning system though.

I guess im screwrd too...

Posted

Wow, you boys down under are getting screwed! My highest bill last year was $223 during August (the hottest month in Texas), and that was with the a/c running almost constantly.
