maverickdrinker Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 I just may show up! So.... YOu making this happen or what?!?! If so, you need to let me know....... The Filipino likes to plan appropriately.....
maverickdrinker Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Hamlet custom robusto extras and torps below. Hamlet is one of the finest rollers in the world, world renowned and a very nice guy to boot! Some of the best cigars I have smoked. Not so readily available customs at least outside of Cuba... Those look delicious. Tell us how they smoke....
CaptainQuintero Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Hamlet needs to set up a store to let those of us who can't get to Cuba taste his creations!!
Lotusguy Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Hamlet needs to set up a store to let those of us who can't get to Cuba taste his creations!! Seconded!
westg Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Gee they do look nice . Just finished a Le Hoyo du Dauphin 2001 ...looking at these makes me just want to go and smoke something else..thanks for the pics
JY0 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 If I recall correctly, the seller featuring HJ's lost his franchise for misrepresenting the provenance of some custom rolled cigars (no the HJ's) he was selling. Before this happened I did try the HJ's and didn't like them.
CanuckSARTech Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Hamlet needs to set up a store to let those of us who can't get to Cuba taste his creations!! Seconded! maverickdrinker had set up the store here at Friends of Habanos, long ago.... LOL. EXACTLY what I was thinking! If you want Hamlets (as the rest of us Canucks mostly hoard ours), just look into it with Art. I'm sure he'll buy mildly-seasoned livers in decent condition for the black market surgeons! He needs more money for his Cohiba wants!
Zigatoh Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Re coh Sublimes, I've bought a couple of tens of them in the last year, they were lovely fresh but quickly became a bit dull, I'm hoping the custom thing is true and they turn around again with time. Had some good ones off johnny o too.

melies Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 I love the Dalias, sublimes and PC's I tried the robustos but were not as good as the others
Orion21 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 I have smoked 3 Hamlet Robusto Extras and two were amazing and the third horrible. I have bought a couple of boxes of COH Sublimes and had a couple that were amazing (always when fresh out of the box), another 4-6 that were pretty good (2-3 months out of the box) and 2 that were horrible (around 6 months out of the box). What all my seasoned cigar friends say is that customs are always best fresh and then go into a sick period that can last 2 years. Once the cigars turn they can be great or horrible...kind of like Habanos cigars LOL
Ptowncigar Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Little thread bump here I'm interested in getting some costums. Coh is the only place I know of that are available (which could be bad thing, I hear mixed reviews). My question is should I place I small order, and see for myself? And are there any recommendations as what cigar? Or just stay away... Any help is much appreciated and I'm open to other recommendations. Thx guys

Ptowncigar Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Thanks Dicko, that was a great review!

Haven't heard anything else I did a box split with someone around a year or so ago and I personally wish I had not. I still have most of them. Perhaps after another ten years they will come around

Dbone Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Shagfoot and pigtails are common options on most customs. Since I use matches to light, the shagfoots really do fire up nicely with little effort. Wonder why production stuff doesn't come with a shagfoot, it's pretty cool and an option I usually always go for.
Orion21 Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 My experience with the Custom rolls is limited, but I have bought two 25 counts of Ravi's Sublimes and some of Hamlet's rolls. The Hamlet cigars are on par with the finest Cuban cigars in the world. Ravi's sublimes are not in the same league, but they are 3 times less per stick. Also, Ravi's Sublimes were excellent when released and quickly went into a sick period where the cigars were horrid. I am not surprised Diamond was sad he bought them. However, after a year and a half sleeping Ravi's Sublimes have awoken and are smoking "sublimely." They are truly excellent cigars filled with cedar, espresso and cream. I wish I hadn't gifted so many away leaving me with fewer than a dozen.

I wish I hadn't gifted so many away leaving me with fewer than a dozen. I've had a similar experience with Ravi's. I picked up one 10 pack each of the Dalias, Sublimes, and Canonazos to try out. The Dalias and the Sublimes took a while to wake up (really started getting good at the 6 months mark), but the Canonazo still has me feeling bleh. I've still got 4 of those left, but I'm down to 1 each of the Dalias and Sublimes. Should have gotten more of the Sublimes and let them sit, but didn't want all my eggs being in one basket, as it were. Cheers, ~ Greg ~

Ken Gargett Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Never had a Hamlet some of the greatest cigars imaginable. and a top bloke. enjoys the larger size cigars so we are but i am always reminded of one of our idiot mates, not part of the forum, who managed to leave the bag of 150 hamlets were bought - a while back and i forget if they were $5 or $8 (on one of my solo trips to cuba a few years earlier, i remember buying heap of robusto's from him for $3 each. brilliant. i had intended to take them home but i needed to restock before the end of the trip). anyway, our idiot mate manages to leave the bag of 150 hamlets in his room down at playa ghiron where we went bonefishing. cruel. he also left a bottle of yquem in the guide's bait esky.

As far as I know they are Cuban (Ravi told me) and the ones I have smoked are really great and smoking lovely right now.
