PoohBore Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I like craig as bond and I saw skyfall on Friday night. Great set of one liners in there had the audience giggling away. Nice new Q and a twist at the end which makes me look forward to the next film
brazoseagle Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 In what world is pierse brosnan british?! Hes irish for gods sake. I must say i loathe the bond movies, i think the whole franchise needs a rethink. Much like chris nolan did to batman. Craig and Casino Royal was the strat of the "Nolan Style" remake.
CanuckSARTech Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Craig and Casino Royal was the strat of the "Nolan Style" remake. Yes yes!!!! Here here!!!! Casino Royal was the best Bond movie to date. Bar none. Just as The Dark Knight (and the remake trifecta by Nolan) completely reimagined and revamped a badly needed francise. Both, taking a fictional / comic book world, and put it in the realm of the truely believable and fantasmic!!!!
Ken Gargett Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Craig and Casino Royal was the strat of the "Nolan Style" remake. i think that is exactly right. well, not certain they were thinking batman but they were definitely thinking time to revamp the whole thing. the start of casino royale, where he makes his first kill as a '00' (or to get '00' status - can't recall which), is surely evidence of that.
mazolaman Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 "Sean Bean would have been fantastic if it wasn't for his stint at 006, he outshone Brosnon in Goldeneye." It takes a bright candle to outshine Mr Brosnan.... Mr Beans acting chops.... Sean on the pain of civil war.... Sean contemplates existentialism... What do they do with the holes from Polos? Ahhh the turmoil of being Mr Bean, stand back Olivier, a worthy successor has arrived...."For England and St George"..... Sean contemplates his breakfast... (actualy, he's not a bad actor, but if you're going to take the piss.....)
habanolover Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I've see Defiance, Munich, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, all those. Okay, he's not a terrible actor, but he just strikes me as too stern and not as comfortable in the character as Connery or Brosnan...he also lacks the same wittiness of the previous bonds. I agree that the last Brosnan movies were somewhat of a joke. To each his own... As my .02, and I saw this and quoted so I hope I'm not repeating anyone. Craig comes at Bond as a relatively new and raw agent...sort of back to the future character-wise. I could see Connery as a new agent being just as rough around the edges as Craig is now and I have to say, I really enjoy the grit Craig has brought to the roll. Connery is still my favorite but Craig has restored Bond!!!
Dbone Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Casino Royal was the best Bond movie to date. Bar none. I've been following this topic and just received Casino Royal from Netflix today. So I'll give it a watch this weekend. I did see Quantum Solace and was really disappointed. I do enjoy the older Bond flicks filled with great one liners, exotic cars, gadgets, exotic locations, beautiful girls, and Bond always banging them because he oozes cheesy class. I never read the books so I wouldn't know that Bond character. However, the last Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol had a lot of those ingredients. Fancy cars, exotic locations, gadgets, beautiful girls... just didn't have "Bond". The contact lens that acted as a camera was pretty cool....Sawyer lives!! Anyway, with a claim of "best" attached to most anything I'll give it a sniff. Actually, looking forward to watching it probably tonight.
GammerSmokes Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Watched Skyfall tonight, Wow! Loved every second of it. Nice to see the lovely DB5 fully restored, then blown up iExplore on my Tappytalk part duex
brazoseagle Posted November 9, 2012 Author Posted November 9, 2012 Reason # 1,538 why Danny Craig is the best Bond.......he actually does his own stunts!
Fuzz Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 I'll wait another 5-6 years until they choose the next Bond, then I'll come back to the movie franchise... depending on who they choose. For me the Bond series goes from 1 to 20 ("Dr No" through to "Die Another Day"), and then will strangely jumps to Bond film 26... And before you ask, I do not consider David Niven's "Casino Royale" or "Never Say Never Again" Bond films!
Mr.T Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Looking forward to it. I'm actually most excited about seeing Javier Bardem as the bad guy. He was so good in Old Country for Old Men. Granted, this is a different role. Although it looks like he is sporting some interesting hari style again. My favorite Bond is Connery followed by Brosnan and Moore. I never get tired of watching the older bond movies. I like Craig, but it seems the newer bond movies (especailly the ones with Craig) are taking on more of an action/big stunt angle and approach which audiences are looking for so Craig is good for this. I'm not sure Moore could pull off the things being done in today's films. I guess it coms down to the script, approach and pop culture of today. He's not the greatest actor, but that's not why he is in there. He doesn't have the finesse, smoothness or suave nature that typified Connery, Moore and Brosnan.
mazolaman Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Saw it yesterday in Cannes...yeah, get me, name dropping tart! Excellent film. The real star of the show is Roger Deakins, the world's best cinematographer, some of the scenes are just beautifully artistic, some exillerating...a real work of art from him. Also liked the change of focus to M, who I felt was a metaphor for Britain itself in this anniversary film. Didn't notice the Heineken advert, as I was watching the actors, but did notice the watch and sony advert. Can't compare old Bond films to these, as these are now less cartoons, with the quality of the actors there now (who all put in stellar performances), it is a different thing altogether. Bardems baddie is fantastic. I guess some will prefer the older style comic turn, but for me this was not just a great Bond film, but a great film in it's own rite.
Mr.T Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Agree with the above comments! I went and saw it over the weekend and I really enjoyed it. Very good performances and filimaking all around. There are some stellar actin sequences in this one. Javier Bardem, well this is one Bond badie that you'll remember and leaves a definite impression. I thought Judy Dench was fantastic this time around.Overall, a darker, character driven Bond film, which is a good thing for the franchise IMHO.
brazoseagle Posted December 6, 2012 Author Posted December 6, 2012 Just want to revive this and express that Skyfall is by far, no contest, the best Bond Movie in the Franchise on many many levels and pays a special underlying anniversary homage to the old school bond from the beginning and especially from the novels that, most "Easter eggs" were easily picked up on by Bond Traditionalists. It was great. The acting by everyone was phenomenal! The story line was fantastic and the cinematography was breathtaking. If you have a chance to see it in true IMAX, it makes a huge difference. Daniel Craig, above and beyond, exhibited the best acting in Skyfall over any other Bond or Bond movie. It's in my new TOP 5 favorite movies list!
Rushman Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Just saw today. Gotta say I enjoyed it but it's not as good as I hoped or expected. I'm sure we all saw the "moneypenny" homage coming from a mile away even before he asked her name. Anyways glad I saw it. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.631730,-87.070628
dangolf18 Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Saw it. Great film. I think this rivals Goldeneye. But couldn't get over the product placements--Heineken was everywhere as was Omega.
orangedog Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Anyway with Craig apparently signed up to five more Bond films it's a moot point really as we will have a decade more of two-hour long commercials for Rolex/Heineken/BMW.KFC/Qatar Gas/Nokia/Facebook Its Omega, not Rolex. Remember, Casino Royale... "Omega. Beautiful."
CaptainQuintero Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 I'm just looking forward to the next film with Jackie Chan as "Bond's" sidekick where they have to save McDonalds from the evil Hamburglar
brazoseagle Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 Skyfall's Sam Mendes pretty sure to be staying on to direct Bond 24!!! http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=100436
dangolf18 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Daniel Radcliffe should be the next bond villain.
brazoseagle Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 Daniel Radcliffe should be the next bond villain. You're in Time Out ! Go sit in the corner.
dangolf18 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 HA HA...I knew that was going to piss people off!!! lol. You're in Time Out ! Go sit in the corner.
MIKA27 Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Skyfall and Casino Royal are the best two Bond movies IMO. The main reason why they worked is because of Craig and he is my choice as the best Bond. He sells it in so many ways the others cannot. I think alot of people often feel loyal to pick Connery and I do like Connery as my second selection, then followed by Brosnan.
