DougB Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Also here in Delaware, it's starting to pick up. Sounds like the storm is intensifying instead of weakening. Landfall coming in the next couple hours. The worst is going to hit you guys and us between now and 8 p.m. and carrying through until 1 p.m. tomorrow before it starts to die down somewhat. Crazy stuff going on here. Many towns completely under water already.
GTS21 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Windows leaking, lights flickering, 8 story trees bending, baby crying. Somethings gotta give.
Squarehead Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I hope everybody makes it safely through it all and keep your sticks out of harms way.
GTS21 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Already checked the walk-in, no water damage yet
Ophidion Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Doug if you get flooded you can surf your coolidor over to my area and we can break the "no smoking" rule in my apartment
GammerSmokes Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Good luck to our cousins across the pond. Stock up well, keep warm and smoke the phatist cuban/non cuban to see you through. iExplore on my Tappytalk part duex
canadianbeaver Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Not quite sure if it's Sandy related (seems a bit early), but power is out here at our house in Toronto.
maverickdrinker Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Hope that everyone in the East Coast is safe over the next few days....
CanuckSARTech Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Not quite sure if it's Sandy related (seems a bit early), but power is out here at our house in Toronto. Yes it is, I think. The main wind should be getting to you guys anytime soon. It's been decently rainy and windy down here all day. Power on and off, and I know TO gets a lot of power from down here now. It's really started to pick up in the last hour, with the worst for us around the lower Great Lakes expected to kick in between midnight tonight and 12 noon tomorrow. Still nothing compared to the US ocean-side east coasters and others in the maritimes. But it's still gonna park right on us for a bit and cause havoc, it looks like.
Ginseng Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Roaring wind here right now and for the next 8 hours or so. 40-60 mph sustained with gusts into hurricane range. Wilkey
Deemancpa Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 The wind is nonstop between the 40-60 mph. Trees are hanging in there, lights are still on! Just SW of me, it's snowing!
Schumi5 Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Following this on CNN and the images are just incredible. Such devastation. Thoughts and prayers for all of you impacted by this. Stay safe.
anacostiakat Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Frankenstorm, The Mummy Of All Storms! I swear I have never heard/seen rain come down as heavily and hard as last night. Thankfully we made it through. Still raining here but the winds have deminished to around 28 mph. Prayers sent to all those who are affected by this thing. At least we have today off as the Feds have cancelled for the day again.
mazolaman Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Fare thee well, out there, I hope you can all get through it ok.
LexG Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Heard some horrible stats on the drive to work this morning, thoughts and prayers with those who's homes and communities are affected or even worse have lost loved ones
dicko Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Hope all our FOH'ers and all others are staying safe!
OZCUBAN Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Terrible images ,hope all our safe, our thoughts are with you
Ophidion Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 There are cars in the middle of the road that have floated from hundreds of yards away. Downed power lines broken trees, homes collapsed from the amount of water. It's pretty horrible. I was lucky enough to live in an old brick apartment complex that wasn't damaged at all but a few friends have lost cars and their homes. This is what is looks like near me:
Guest robustog Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 no power here.... power company say we should have it by 11/4. On the positive note.. The generator is running so I have the important things running, the fridge and freezer, we can cook, make coffee, have heat from a wood stove and the generator powers the well pump for water (no hot water though). I can run my fans so I just finished a BPC. Phones just started working but no cable tv, no internet.... But all said, we are safe and no damage. we are lucky. 30k people out of power in my county alone. I feel for everyone on the coast, the devistation is unbelivable. Prayers sent to all impacted by this storm.
smokum Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Watching news reports this was really a devastating storm. Prayers to my east coast brothers. I went to see Lake Michigan here and it was like nothin I have seen in all my years. People were surfing. I just can't even imagine what it was like our east.
Loki Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 I am in NJ and the damage is epic. I lost 3 trees completely uprooted . Lines at gas stations are miles long. Grocery store closed for days. There are power poles snapped in half across the street from my home. I have not had power in almost 96 hours and do not expect to get it back for another 7-10 days. I am basically camping out in my home. I work at a state university and we have 2 shelters set up on campus that are filled to capacity. I have been handling damage assement for my campus for the past 2 days and trying to affect repairs to our facilities. I am not at all worried about my wife and I . We are fine. I feel bad for those who have lost everything to the storm.
jps327 Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Glad to hear from our east coast brothers and sisters that they survived the storm. Thoughts and prayers are with those less fortunate Taking a half day tomorrow to go and inspect our ocean city, nj residence. Some of the pictures I've seen of the damage along the coast are unbelievable!
