Hohenthal Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Hi, everyone! In a recent post I read about a proposed Casa del Habano edition of Upmann Connoisseur 1 next year. At first, because I like my Upmann cigars, I thought ... On second thought, hm... If I'm not totally mistaken, Connie 1 although being constantly very good in terms of quality does not stand a chance - regards sales numbers - against almost any other Robusto / Hermosos 4 cigar . So, maybe the LCDH edition will come not in addition to the regular cigar, but as a replacemend of the same with limited availability and higher price point. And then what? Deletion raise its ugly face again? Sorry for that, but recent habanos history have made me more and more pessimistic. If anyone has info on this, I would appreciate, thanks! In the meantime I will enjoy them as always, going to light one soon - cheers everybody, Alex
LGC Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 I was curious about this myself. It almost seems like HSA is telling us that we have to buy "special" release cigars if we want quality blended cigars these days. As long as ELs and REs continue to sell, I guess the motivation to maintain regular production cigars is not there... in their eyes. We will have to see if this trend will continue in years to come.
spivy Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Small cigars and non limited cigars sell less often then their limited and bigger counterpart. The PC is not going anywhere but if the other cigars don't sell they will get rid of them and replace them with something bigger that sells. It is a sad truth.
CaptainQuintero Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 I could be wrong but I think the new LCDH is just called 'the Connoisseur' and it could be any vitola. I'm guessing some kind of sublime/double robusto/Edmundo? I don't see there being three Upmann robustos/Herm #4s being out at the same time.

I agree with capitain q my interpretation is that it will be named the connoisseur and the vitola is not yet known to us peasants.
CaptainQuintero Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Maybe it will be a 'serie du connoisseur' style Upmann!
CBL Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Maybe it will be a 'serie du connoisseur' style Upmann! Now THAT would be a pleasant surprise! I think it's extremely confusing that they have the Connoisseur No. 1 and a new "The Connoisseur" With all the ridiculously named cigars that ones existed, you'd think they'd have an endless source of names to choose from. HSA, creativity and imagination gets smaller as ring gauges get larger.
mbrody Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Phew! Thread got me nervous...the upmann Connie 1 has become a staple and I would sorely miss her if she disappeared!

HSA, creativity and imagination gets smaller as ring gauges get larger. Just by glancing at the current Upmann catalogue, and taking the name into consideration you'd place money on it either being some kind of edmundo or a long and skinny. But then again who knows! I won't be putting and bets on! But a laguito #1 or #2 would be a little bit amazing!
mk05 Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 I would have to guess a lonsdale, since they just released a Half Corona, Robusto in the EL, and an Edmundo. Then again, I could be very, very wrong.
maverickdrinker Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 The H. Upmann connoisseur is proposed to be a regular production cigar. (Might be an LCDH exclusive?) The proposed vitola is a genios format (like the Cohiba maduro 5) and is proposed to come in 25 count boxes.

in0gravity Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 The Edmundo size has been used on the Royal Robusto already. My guess would be a Hermoso No. 1 (your guess is as good as mine ). But interestingly enough this would be the third release from Upmann for LCDH. regards Lars
Duxnutz Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Hard to gauge the size in this video (4:30 mark) but the H Upmann Conni A appears to exist. Haven't really heard anything about it yet tho. Notably, an LCDH secondary band is absent and the box is 25 count. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=1vpSSD8Onjc
Charltonc Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 I believe it is 5.5 or 5.8 by 52, I am not positive about this though.
Duxnutz Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 Blows my mind when the Connie 1 is so good that this is necessary.
sengjc Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 I am curious, how are the LCDH release different to the regular production?
CaptainQuintero Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 I am curious, how are the LCDH release different to the regular production? You get a hella ugly band! To be fair the LCDH releases have usually been pretty good, better than ELs etc at least. I'm guessing it's a bit of a tester to see if there is a market for a full release further down the line?

Charltonc Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 regular production,LCDH, regionals, and then LEs that is my order of choice for cigars.

Upmann Connoisseur line a LCDH exclusive.
