Coincidentally I was looking for reviews on this cigar this last few days. I was considering getting a box but after reading some comments here at FOH I found that the premium was too high compared to i.e. PL Robusto Asia Pacifico that have been fantastic recently.

I've been singing their praises for quite a while now ;)

Can you be more specific, and provide a comparison with say, the PCC Robustos?

My 2 cents :)

Yes, these are expensive now but the prices will shoot out of the roof once they start showing their full potential. I have a box sitting in my cabinet for a minor nap, I believe that these will need an additional year to come out of their shell and blossom.

In terms of profile, I have sampled 2 from my box so far and they kept true to their PL roots (big +). Also, I have found that these are rich with caramel notes which were accompanied with hay and salty undertones.

In terms of how they fare vs PL Robustos (huge fan of those too), I believe that the Regalias will end up taking over their robusto counterparts and endup ruling the PL roost

Plenty of reviews, hit the search button up!

Personally the RDL at the moment are toasty with lots of burnt sugar while the robustos are sweet caramel/syrup then turn dark and brooding in the second half.

If I had to pick a box I'd go with the robustos but I have a cigar sweet tooth :D

I posted a picture review on FOH before

I have been quite disappointed with every other PL RE that I've tried (did not try the PCC Robustos, though). This one hits my spot.

Maybe you should try Por Larrañaga Magnificos release from UK, if you can find it? :bulb:

impossible to find for a halfway reasonable price :(

Por Larranaga Regalias de Londres. These have matured well. The construction is flawless, the burn smooth and even, and the draw was perfectly firm all the way to the nub. Flavor? Definitely on the mild side, but with subtle essences of vanilla, caramel and a bit of lemon zest. On the palate, a honeysuckle sweetness, with some floral notes that keep you searching. There was plenty of smoke, but the quality was incredibly soft and light on the palate, more like a vapor than like cigar smoke. Overall, a sophisticated, elegant and ethereal cigar that more than held my attention for over an hour. Just shy of perfect.

Anyone any input on how those compare to the recent Sober aliens?

100000000x better than the Sobresalientes, IMO. The latter left me so badly underwhelmed, I ditched all the spare boxes that I had posthaste (no, I'm not joking).

The Sobra's are stunning, I will take all yours lol.

The Regalias in my humi are still sleeping. They were good when they came out.

Thanks for the input gents! Ok, Lotus, that sounds as if I had to rush and dig in deep on them (apart from the uncracked box I am holding), as we often have a very antithetic taste, as it seems....biggrin.png

I am down to a partial box, otherwise I'd gladly trade them with you. :)

Wow. That's a tough act to follow! Will have to stay tuned - the Robustos were some of the best cigars I've had. Don't know if the blend was just right or what, but those were rippers!

More than any other brand, PL makes excellent REs. I'd still love to see a lancero, taco, britanica or salomone
