The Trinidad Reyes was my favourite small guage cigar. They always smoked like a large guage cigar and packed in so much complexity over a short time frame. But I can understand why they have axed it after Saturday night's events. Maybe I got a bad cigar. I went into the city in Melbourne with the missus to go shopping with her to pay her back for letting me go on a blokes weekend the weekend before. We ended up at Chin Chin restaurant for lunch and hopped into the cocktails and wine and before you knew it she was receptive to a cigar at Siglo bar. You ripper. Unfortunately the Trinidad Reyes I oredered was horrible. Hard and the draw was OK but tasted like an old ashtray. I had to put it down and order a Hoyo epicure No 2 which wasn't bad. Maybe I just got a dud or they weren't issuing good tobacco to Trinidad anymore. I'm not sure. The young waiter explained their humidor was playing up and only the humidor on the bar was working well. So be wary if you are going to Siglo in Melbourne. Make sure the humidor is up and running. I should've brought my own. Now with the Reyes gone as well as the Party Serie Du Connissuer No 3 I'm stuck for a good small cigar to turn to.

Mate Siglo has been famous for Dry arse sticks for a few years now. Their larger gauge sticks survive only just. It's a BYO place now.

The Reyes is not being axed, the Robusto T and the Robusto Extra are.

Habanos SA is ceasing all production of the Trinidad brand for the next two years.

Oh, the power of the rumor… I wonder how many times we will have to repeat this correction…

I read the full articles and several others that I did not post links to ... did I miss something?

Yup

End of the very first article you posted. Nuff said.

Thanks God, it turned out to be either a false statement or a quick change of views, and neither of the Trinidad fansa have suffered – only those who prefer Robusto T and Robusto Extra. So you’d better stock up until they gone forever …..

UPDATE (April 26, 2012): Christoph Walters has updated his blog to say that the Trinidad Reyes, Coloniales and Fundadores will not be discontinued, but just the Robusto T and Robusto Extra, as previously announced.

I am always shocked at how people declare the "death" of a certain cigar or brand after smoking one bad example. People, please do yourself and us a favor. If you have a bad box, two boxes or see a distinct decrease in quality over a few years please post what your take is. BUT, if you have loved a cigar for a while and have one bad one (that's not even from your own humidor), please don't claim they are going down hill. Am I over reacting?

Phoque! I read it in the last one but completely missed it in the fist three ... I stand corrected. Man WTF, I do that all the damn time ... the worst is at work when I completely miss something in an email which happens more often then it should. I'm getting worse and worse at it I mean missing it in one article would be one thing but missing it in three. If there is some type of condition for that (other than being a dumb a$$) I have it. I'm going to just STFU now ... for the rest of today.

On the upside, the trini Reyes is apparently not dead. That's good news - to me anyway. Thanks for the heads up guys.
