Pilgrims Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 By this rather weird question what I really mean is...is there a cigar that you can't get your head around? Everytime you try it, it disappoints but then just as you smoke your last one it reels you back in...or every time you get a plugged smoke it is this particular cigar? For me it is the Petit Edmundo (with no good reason as I know many people love'em), I often have one and swear never again (too raw, plugged, ugly) but can't leave it alone so I try another and love it...I think deep down this might have something to do with expectation as you'll most likely enjoy something when you expect very little...
Puros Y Vino Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Absolutely. The Montecristo No 2. Of the five I've smoked only one has been good. The others were either too bland, burn & draw issues you name it. I will NEVER buy a box.
CigarAsh Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Absolutely the Monte #2. It was the first Cuban cigar I ever smoked and one of the best. Every time I smoke another Monte 2 I'm looking for those elusive flavors and spices and I'm always disappointed. For a cigar that can be so fantastic, how can they also be so incredibly, frustratingly inconsistent and disappointing.
skbe Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 I have real bad luck with the bolivar coronas gigantes despite I like very much the taste of bolivar cigars... So please tell me it was only bad luck ?
Ethernut Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Funny the votes for Monte #2, it's been hit or miss for me as well. I bought a box of '05 #2's (signed by El Prez) a few years back, that I've been waiting to crack. Hoping they'll be worth a crap..
OZCUBAN Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Just kidding , but in all seriousness they can all disappoint at times Just like people☺
canadianbeaver Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 I would have to say any of the smaller Montecristos... #4, 5? When I have to buy a smaller smoke, especially at a Canadian shop to appease the owner, I have tried these and they are so hit and miss. I get them as gifts pretty often too.
CanuckSARTech Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Absolutely. The Montecristo No 2. Of the five I've smoked only one has been good. The others were either too bland, burn & draw issues you name it. I will NEVER buy a box. I got some more nice HQ ones you can try, Frank....
Scdalak Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Cohiba Rubusto AND Siglo VI.... They just dont work......
CaptainQuintero Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Cohiba. I've never had a good one never mind great! The best I can say I've had is a great first half of a siglo IV, the second half being sour and grubby. I just won't buy them anymore.
maverickdrinker Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 HdM. As much as I try to like this marca, I don't get much from them.
cgarner Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 x2 on Cohiba. I've never had one that made me want to buy another. Considering the premium price they command I would expect nothing less than good to great.
Ethernut Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 LOL! I've had a few that were as good as the best Cohiba you've ever had years ago.. Eventually I stopped buying them because of the inconsistency.. Monte 4. They are all terrible
IcedCanuck Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Montecristo No.4. I have smoked a few brilliant ones and a few dog rockets. Seems like they are very hit and miss but when they're on they are stunningly delicious.
ksblazer Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Romeo Y Julietas Hoyo's RASCC The profile of these cigars have never done anything for me
Habanos2000 Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 RASS... I've never found one that would cause me to rave on about it like I've heard others do.
Rushman Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 The entire MC Open series. The word "why" comes to mind. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.631714,-87.070857
