Hold on there folks...

Monte 2 hype? Perhaps I'm too new to the hobby but my experience has been the opposite of hype. Most often people say they have been meh of late but can be great 'when they are on', and that tells me to expect disappointing cigars regularly. I look forward to smoking Monte 2s 'cause you might just get a great one, and if not it will most likely be just OK. Besides you didn't pay premium dollars for it. Personally I'm batting 30% very good :2thumbs: , 60% Ok to good  , 10% yuck :thumbsdwn: .

Give the Monte 2 a little love is what I say.

Peace out,

Siglo VI-- I keep trying in hopes I will finally come across a good one. :daydream: Looks like many of you feel the same.

Cohiba Robusto- By the most competive Vitola Habanos has to offer. Far too many other amazing choices in a Robusto to stick with this one. :thumbsdwn:

Bolivar GM Yup thats right... BOLIVAR GM. :cowpoop:

CoRo

PSD4

RASS

These are my three favorite robustos. CoRos are hit or miss that's why I only buy el laguitos (or would buy Rob's selections) as with any cohibas really. Not much to say about all of them other than fresh and aged are world's apart, some of the craziest cigar smokers I know love them despite smoking 80s montes, upmanns, partagas etc. One of them was smoking a 92 rass that was a 99 (i know bc i smoked it too). This is why one can't put too much stock into anonymous persons opinions on the internet, there are simply too many variables to list going on behind the scenes which leave readers without any sort of context.

I hope you don't consider my opinion totally anonymous :wink2:

Are you smoking somewhat recent production? If so, please tell us how you're able to positively identify codes of boxes as El Laguito production? Because, to the best of my knowledge, no one's been able to crack or track the recent box codes.

You're a somebody to me, Mike! :buddies:

Every Monte I have ever smoked

Every RE

Every LE

Thank you

Try the (shameless plug) HdM petit piramides or the SLR Pacificos my friend. I guarantee that it will change your stance. Is this just me? :jester:

I'm really struggling with Partegas D4's. Had 3 from 3 different sources (czar was one of them), first was straight out of the envelope but last nights smoke had done time at 64/65 and still not great.

Still there are plenty more to try!

cheers

Partagas 898 V - Still haven't had that "great" one yet

Monte 4 - Too inconsistent

Boli RC - Maybe I just don't get it????

Cohiba Genios - concept sounds amazing..tried three different years....they did nothing for me!

You guys can send me all of the Monte #2's you don't want!~

Still curious about this.... :looking:

Monty 2 is easily the most over rated cigar I've smoked. Not bad, just unremarkable. I keep giving them a chance and buying 1 to 3 sticks about every 8 months, but as yet unimpressed.

Wow, lots of my favorite cigars on this list. To each their own. I'm going to list 3 over rated cigars, and then in parentheses next to them 3 under rated cigars from the same marca

Overrated (Underrated)

Cohiba Siglo VI (Cohiba Coronas Especiales)

Monte #2 (Monte #3)

Partagas Lusitania (Partagas Culebras)

Cohiba Siglo VI...to one dimensional for my liking for the QPR

HdM brand...to mild for me, excluding des Dieux & new EL Short Piramide which is excellent

Monte 2...prefer the VR Unicos & Diplo 2 in the format

Monte 4. Just too inconsistent

Monte 2. Same reasons as above

Trini rob T - did nothing for me

As with all "list" threads here, if they go long enough, the whole Czar catalog will get mentioned, no?

Not being a smart ass, just an observation?

The Monte 4 is a cigar that I've struggled with through the years. I find them to be very very strong and not worth the effort. I've tried to like them but to no avail.

Anyone would think tastes are subjective!

+1 to the whole Monte line (except for maybe the especiales)

The RJ line: especially Churchills, Wide Churchills and Dukes

CoRos: At that price point, doesn't really compare to PSD4s, RASS, Regios, JL2s, aged HdM Con 1s etc...

I'll have to throw in another bash of The Monte 2.Based on Rob's caveat it's the only one I'm qualified to comment on.The first one I had was a sublime experience akin to smoking the finest vanilla ice cream.I've had half a dozen since and have been let down every time.Unrealistically hoping to recapture a first love, perhaps?.
