Ginseng Posted March 11, 2012 Author Posted March 11, 2012 Tuesday works for me too Excellent, I'd love to hear more about your photographic excursions. Your work is most impressive and I'd like to learn more about the processes behind your shotmaking. Wilkey
CanuckSARTech Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Sounds like we'll have a good group then. Any thoughts on locale? Park Hyatt, Mambo Lounge, etc., etc.? Wilkey - any place you'd really like to visit specifically?
Ginseng Posted March 11, 2012 Author Posted March 11, 2012 No idea, really. No preferences, I mean. All I do know is that I have been traveling and working short-handed for a year and I am just about at the snapping point. And my annual review is coming up next week. So just a little relaxation and a little non-work time would be so welcome. I'll tell you how bad it is...the only times in the last year I've NOT smoked alone is on business trips that are 2 days or longer in one location where I have a free evening to meet with locals. On my one-day jobs, it's generally 19-23 hours from the time the airplane wheels touch down in the job city to when they go back up to bring me to the next. Waking up and not having any idea what city I'm in? Yeah, it's happened more than a few times. Not quite George Clooney in "Up In the Air" territory but not far from it. Wilkey
blotto649 Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 I'm a noob around here, but might like to join in if you don't mind my crashing the party. I usually work until 6:30-7, but I can swing by right after. I've only really smoked at the LCDH on Yorkville and the patio at the Hazelton across the street, but anywhere on the subway line is good for me. We're here for ya, Wilkey.
Puros Y Vino Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 At this rate, we'll need a bigger spot. Perhaps Mambo Lounge? PH and Hemingways seat 15 - 20 at best if no one else is there. Remy's is an option but they're become a bit "cigar unfriendly".
CanuckSARTech Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Frank, is Mambo Lounge open and running the back deck yet? I'm sure if we called and sweettalked them, they would open it up for us if they already haven't, especially considering the weather. But that would maybe be a great place to bring Wilkey, with great food and atmosphere.

LLC Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Maybe it's a good thing I'm still out if town and not able to come

Its gorgeous here in Toronto today! Headcount is around so far. @Blackham. Of course you're welcome to join in. We haven't seen you since the first ever herf.
Ginseng Posted March 11, 2012 Author Posted March 11, 2012 Hey hey, I made it safe and sound to Toronto. Snuggled in the hotel room and about to walk out for some sushi. Stay in touch folks, looks like Tuesday's the day. Cigars made it through with me unscathed so I'm cocked, locked, and ready to rock. Wilkey
Blackham Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Welcome to Toronto, let us know if you need any restaurant/nightlife recommendations, help getting around the city, etc
Ginseng Posted March 11, 2012 Author Posted March 11, 2012 Appreciate it, Blackham. Tonight I went to Fune on Simcoe for sushi. What a wonderful experience. Pleasant, skilled waitstaff, great ambiance, friendly, delicious artful chirashi sushi, and...very reasonable prices. A little gem. Highly recommended. Tomorrow looks like a rainout so most likely I'm coming back to the hotel with takeout and working. But we'll see. I'm very much looking forward to meeting you folks! Wilkey
canadianbeaver Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 I am available to meet you for dinner if you want some company, Matthew is going to Chicago. Lisa

Puros Y Vino Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Welcome to Toronto Ginseng. Fune is a wise choice. Glad you enjoyed it. As for Tuesday. I contacted Mambo. They'll be setting up for us this Tuesday. Great food, drink, cigars and friends await. See you all there.
Ginseng Posted March 12, 2012 Author Posted March 12, 2012 Fantastic. I love it when a plan comes together. Not original, but right on target. Wilkey
